Tesla is the world's best-known electric vehicle company. This report assigns it a "Watch" rating: the fundamentals have real strengths, but the current valuation is too high, so investors should keep tracking it and hold off for now.

Operationally, the company designs and manufactures its own electric vehicles and sells them through a direct-sales model, without relying on a dealer network. Beyond autos, it has two adjacent businesses: energy storage systems for grids and homes, which carry higher margins than vehicles and are becoming a second growth curve; and Supercharging, insurance, and in-car software subscriptions. Its competitive moat is real: brand pull and the global Supercharger network are hard to replicate in the near term. Still, that moat cannot shield the company from the industry's price war. Competitors keep multiplying, and both sales volume and profit declined in 2025, with full-year net income of only 3.794 billion USD.

The problem is price. The company's market capitalization still stands at about 1.4 trillion USD, with a trailing P/E ratio above 360 times, versus about 30.6 times for General Motors over the same period. This pricing is a bet on the long-term prospects of robotaxis, full self-driving, and humanoid robots; it is clearly not grounded in current earnings. If those businesses materialize, the upside could indeed be enormous, but most of them are still in small-scale trials, with very low certainty.

The report estimates that the current price of 396.68 USD has already fully priced in optimistic long-term expectations, leaving insufficient margin of safety. The rating therefore remains "Watch" rather than Buy; the ideal buying range is 180 to 230 USD. The three largest risks are: vehicle margins could be squeezed further by competition; Robotaxi operations and regulatory rollout could take longer than expected; and large equity incentives for management will continue to dilute ordinary shareholders' interests.

Conclusion: a good company is not worth buying at any price. The report recommends staying on watch and waiting for the valuation to fall back to a more attractive level. Conclusion First

My rating is "Watch." The reason is simple: Tesla remains one of the very few companies that simultaneously has a global EV brand, direct sales channels, a charging network, energy-storage manufacturing capability, and a distribution entry point for autonomous-driving software. But today's share price is prepaying for Robotaxi, FSD expansion, Optimus, and the broader "Physical AI" endgame. The automotive and energy-storage profits it has already proven cannot support this valuation. In 2025, Tesla generated $94.827 billion of revenue and only $3.794 billion of net income. By Q1 2026, quarterly GAAP net income was only $491 million, with an operating margin of 4.2%, yet its equity market value was still near $1.4 trillion. This price offers no margin of safety for a manufacturing company in the traditional sense, and for a "future AI operating platform" it requires a very high, still insufficiently proven realization rate.

What the market is really pricing today is a more distant endgame: whether Tesla can convert its existing vehicle parc, FSD software, compute investment, charging network, and operating system into a mobility and robotics platform with higher returns, higher repeat purchase behavior, and stronger network effects than selling cars. That consensus is clear. In early June, J.P. Morgan upgraded Tesla from "Underweight" to "Neutral," mainly because of robotics and autonomous driving, not near-term earnings improvement. The average sell-side target price is also only around $404, close to the current price. My disagreement is over how much these options are worth today, and whether it makes sense to pay for them now.

My judgment on the current price's margin of safety is "none." If the valuation anchor is realized free cash flow, conservatively defined Owner Earnings, and an EV/energy-storage business whose maturity is rising but whose competition is also accelerating, the current price is clearly expensive. If the valuation anchor is the Robotaxi and robotics endgame, the current price still cannot be called cheap, because the market has already assigned a high option premium. For balanced investors with a long-term owner mindset, buying it means first acknowledging that what they are buying is a large set of long-dated options, and then deciding whether they can accept volatility and disconfirmation risk.

It is better suited to two types of investors: growth investors who can track autonomous-driving regulation, operating data, and returns on compute capex over a long period; and investors willing to split the investment into two layers, "core manufacturing business plus huge but highly uncertain AI options." It is less suitable for traditional value investors who prioritize stable cash flow, dividends and buybacks, management restraint, and predictable returns on capital. There are three largest uncertainties: whether the Robotaxi business model can move from limited pilot operations to profitable scale; whether AI/robotics investment can produce sufficiently high returns; and whether governance and equity incentives will continue to erode per-share value.

Business Understanding and Industry Structure

Tesla now has three real revenue lines. The first is still automotive, including vehicle sales, leasing, and regulatory credits. The second is energy generation and storage. The third is services and other, which includes after-sales service, paid Supercharging, insurance, parts, used cars, and increasingly important software and subscription revenue. In Q1 2026, Tesla's total revenue was $22.387 billion, including $16.234 billion from automotive, $2.408 billion from energy generation and storage, and $3.745 billion from services and other. Structurally, it is still far from a "software company"; automotive remains the largest piece. But the profit structure no longer depends only on selling cars, because the energy business had a gross margin of about 39.5% in the quarter, significantly higher than the vehicle business.

The understandable part of this business is actually simpler than the market narrative suggests: Tesla's core remains "designing, manufacturing, selling directly, and servicing high-performance electric vehicles and energy-storage systems," then layering charging, software, and services on top of that hardware base. Its sales channels are its website and owned stores, instead of the traditional dealer system. In its 10-K, the company explicitly states that historically it has been able to acquire customers at relatively low marketing cost and control inventory, pricing, and after-sales feedback through direct sales. For a long-term business owner, that kind of channel control is real operating quality.

But the reason Tesla is hard to judge is precisely that it is no longer just a car-selling business. The company defines itself as a combination of "AI, electric cars, home batteries, integrated renewable energy solutions." Annual and quarterly reports put Robotaxi, FSD, and Optimus near the front. The 2025 annual report also explicitly says the company hopes to convert its existing operations into increasingly many AI-related and software-related products and services. For a long-term acquirer, the problem is that their unit economics, regulatory boundaries, and scaling speed still are not as verifiable as selling cars or Megapacks. In other words, I can understand how Tesla makes money today, but I cannot understand with high confidence how the most valuable part of its profits 10 years from now will form in the way I can understand a mature consumer-goods company.

The industry environment also means this is not an easy good business. There is no question about long-term EV demand. The IEA's Global EV Outlook 2025 shows that global EV sales exceeded 17 million units in 2024, accounting for more than 20% of new car sales, and are expected to exceed 20 million units in 2025. The problem is that growth does not automatically equal high profit. In China, the largest market, new-energy vehicles accounted for more than 62% of new-car sales in May 2026, but monthly sales still fell 7.5% year over year, and the overall vehicle market has entered a mature competitive phase. In this environment, hardware can easily become a market crowded with strong players and sustained price compression.

Tesla remains a strong player in this industry, but it is no longer an unrivaled lone runner. In full-year 2025, Tesla delivered 1.6361 million vehicles, down 9% year over year. Reuters reported during the same period that BYD sold 4.6 million vehicles in 2025, and Tesla lost the "sales crown." In Europe, Reuters repeatedly noted that Tesla lost nearly half of its European market share in 2025, for reasons including intensified competition, an aging model lineup, and the CEO's political controversy. After entering 2026, Tesla's monthly data in China and Europe improved. China-made EV sales rose 39.4% year over year in May, and registrations in several smaller European markets also continued to recover. But this looks more like a cyclical repair than a return to a "one-way rising share" state. For investors, Tesla now looks more like a "high-volatility platform company in a good industry" than an "absolute cost leader in a bad industry."

If the stock market closed for five years, I would be willing to own Tesla at a low enough price, but only if I treated it as a company with a global brand, large-scale manufacturing capability, a second growth curve in energy storage, and some software monetization ability, rather than a bet that it will certainly dominate autonomous driving. If I had to buy the entire company at today's price, I would not act lightly, because the price has already capitalized too much future profit that has not been fully proven. Business understandability score: 3/5. Industry attractiveness score: 3/5.

Moat and Management

Tesla's moat is real, but its shape is narrower than many "Tesla believers" describe and wider than many "pure auto shorts" claim. The most solid parts have four layers. The first is brand and channels. The direct-sales model lets it control pricing, inventory, after-sales service, and customer touchpoints directly. The company itself acknowledges that this infrastructure helps it manage inventory, warranties, and pricing more controllably. The second is the charging network. By the end of 2025, Tesla had 8,182 Supercharger stations and 77,682 connectors, and the network had opened to non-Tesla vehicles, with major North American automakers broadly adopting NACS. This is not an impregnable network effect, but it does improve user experience and ecosystem stickiness. The third is software-hardware integration and OTA upgrade capability. FSD payments, subscriptions, and services have begun to form more stable incremental revenue in the financial statements. The fourth is manufacturing and delivery capability in energy storage, where deployments reached a record 46.7 GWh in 2025.

But these moats do not automatically imply "high pricing power." The most important counterevidence on the hardware side has already appeared: in 2025, Tesla's automotive sales revenue fell 9%. The annual report explicitly cites an approximately 8% decline in cash deliveries, as well as lower average selling prices caused by sales mix and higher customer incentives. In the same year, regulatory credit revenue fell 28%. This shows Tesla still has to bow to demand reality on the vehicle side, and the brand cannot fully shield it from industry price competition. The Q1 2026 margin improvement was also not entirely an improvement in endogenous operating quality. The company wrote clearly in its quarterly update that the year-over-year surge in quarterly operating income came from higher ASP, increased FSD sales and subscriptions, lower material costs, foreign-exchange benefits, and one-time automotive and energy benefits plus warranty/tariff-related benefits. At the same time, AI projects, R&D, SG&A, and CEO-award-related SBC were also pushing expenses up meaningfully. In other words, Tesla still has a moat, but its automotive performance is closer to that of a leading player with advantages but no pricing freedom, rather than a consumer-goods company that can raise prices whenever it wants.

My judgment on the moat's direction is: "slightly narrowing in automotive, widening in energy and software, still being validated in Autonomy." Looking five to ten years ahead, the most important thing is marginal data, not how beautiful ROE looked in 2023 or 2024. The marginal data now tells us this: vehicle sales fell in 2025, European share fell in 2025, and BYD and Chinese automakers continue to take share in mid-to-low-end segments and overseas markets. On the other hand, China and parts of Europe saw a recovery in spring 2026, FSD subscriptions reached 1.1 million at the end of 2025, and Robotaxi moved from limited pilot operations in 2025 to covering the entire Austin metropolitan area in June 2026. This combination means Tesla has not been disrupted, but the track of "core hardware profit being compressed, then made up through software and operations" has officially begun.

If Tesla is disrupted, the most likely path is slow and dangerous, not "cars suddenly stop selling tomorrow": EV hardware commoditizes faster globally, forcing Tesla to keep using pricing, financing incentives, and model refreshes to maintain share. Meanwhile, Robotaxi and FSD land more slowly than the market expects, so software and operating revenue cannot fill the gap left by automotive gross-margin step-downs. At that point, the income statement may not immediately look terrible, but the most expensive terminal-value portion of the valuation will fall first. Looking at this path, I think it has already reached the second step: intensified hardware competition and volume volatility are already in the financial statements, while the software endgame is not yet large enough to cover volatility on the hardware side. Moat strength score: 3/5.

On management, Tesla is a typical company with "very strong execution power and also a governance discount that must be large." On the positive side, Elon Musk's interests are highly tied to shareholders, and over the past decade Tesla has indeed achieved a scale leap in factory construction, vertical supply-chain integration, product cadence, and brand building that only a very small number of companies could achieve. On the negative side, three aspects of current governance and capital allocation cannot be treated lightly. First, equity incentives are too heavy. The 2025 proxy statement shows that the preliminary aggregate fair-value estimate of Elon's 2025 CEO Performance Award was $87.75 billion. If all shares related to the 2018 award and 2025 award vest, his potential ownership could reach 28.8%. Second, SBC rose to $2.825 billion in 2025, and Q1 2026 SBC reached $1.030 billion in a single quarter, far above $573 million in the same period last year. Third, Tesla completed a $2.0 billion SpaceX-related equity investment in Q1 2026. This kind of capital deployment closely connected to the Musk ecosystem requires an additional discount for minority shareholders.

More importantly, Tesla does not return excess capital to shareholders through dividends or buybacks. The company states clearly in its 10-K that it has never paid cash dividends and does not intend to do so in the near term. It also had no share repurchases in 2025. For a company whose valuation is already high and highly dependent on long-dated terminal value, this means almost all returns rest on a single proposition: future reinvestment must be very successful. If that proposition loosens even slightly, shareholders lack real cash returns as a buffer. Management and capital allocation score: 2/5.

Financial Quality and Owner Earnings

Look at the numbers first, then the judgment. Over the past three and a half years, the most important change at Tesla has been this: the way it makes money is changing, margins are falling, and capital expenditure is set to rise again.

All figures in the table are in billions of U.S. dollars, except deliveries, which are in vehicles. TTM revenue is estimated as full-year 2025 revenue plus Q1 2026 revenue minus Q1 2025 revenue. The data mainly comes from Tesla's 2025 annual report, Q1 2026 Update, Q1 2026 10-Q, and Reuters/LSEG financial pages.

This set of numbers has three business implications. First, the margin step-down has already happened, and it is not accounting noise. The high profit in 2023 included items such as the release of a deferred tax valuation allowance, so it cannot be treated as normal. But even if 2023 is viewed as an unusually high point, the decline in net income from 2024 to 2025 is still obvious. Second, operating cash flow looks much better than net income, which shows Tesla still has fairly strong cash-generation capability. But that does not mean all profit is freely distributable, because maintaining factories, service, the charging network, and new projects requires substantial capital. Third, the 2026 capex guidance has been raised from "over $20.0 billion" in the 2025 annual report to "over $25.0 billion" in the Q1 10-Q, mainly for AI training infrastructure, data centers, production-line expansion, and company-operated AI assets. The company itself warns in the 10-Q that if capex enters a high-spending phase, it may need additional funding beyond operating cash flow. For owners, that sentence matters more than any vision statement.

Profit quality itself is not poor, but it needs to be viewed in layers. Free cash flow in 2025 and Q1 2026 was $6.22 billion and $1.44 billion, respectively, both higher than the corresponding net income. This shows depreciation and amortization, parts of working capital, and deferred items make "cash earnings" better than GAAP net income. At the same time, rising SBC cannot be casually treated as "non-cash, therefore irrelevant." SBC reached $2.825 billion in 2025 and rose further to $1.030 billion in Q1 2026. If it is viewed as a real dilution cost to shareholders, Tesla's "distributable earnings" should be more conservative than the headline cash flow suggests.

Now look at returns on assets. Roughly estimating from official assets and shareholders' equity in 2022, 2023, and 2025, Tesla could still show very bright ROE and ROA in 2023, but by 2025 both metrics had clearly downshifted. 2025 shareholder returns looked more like a manufacturing company that is still profitable but has re-entered a high-capital-investment phase, rather than a cash-gushing platform company. The good news is that survival is not a problem. At the end of 2025, the company had total assets of $137.806 billion and total liabilities of $55.669 billion. In Q1 2026, cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments were $44.743 billion, while total debt in 2025 was only around $8.376 billion, leaving a very thick net-cash position. The bad news is that net cash answers "can it survive," not "is it cheap to buy now."

For Owner Earnings, I use a clearly conservative definition. The starting point is 2025 net income attributable to common shareholders of $3.794 billion. I add back non-cash expenses such as depreciation and amortization, referencing TTM depreciation, amortization, and impairment to Q1 2026 of $6.291 billion. SBC is treated entirely as a shareholder cost and is not added back. I estimate maintenance capex at $4.5 billion to $5.0 billion. The reason is that 2026 capex of over $25.0 billion obviously contains a large amount of growth investment, but Tesla's existing factories, service operations, and charging network are not low-maintenance assets. I also apply a small conservative deduction for working capital. Under this framework, my conservative Owner Earnings estimate is about $5.5 billion, with a range of $5.0 billion to $6.5 billion. Based on the current market capitalization of about $1.403 trillion, the market is giving Tesla roughly a 250x multiple on conservative Owner Earnings. In Buffett-style language, this is paying a high price for a riverbed that may one day become a great river.

Market Pricing Review

For most stocks, value investors ask, "Why is it so cheap?" For Tesla, the question must be reversed: "Why is it still so expensive near an earnings trough?" By multiples, the market price uses a completely different language from traditional automakers. Based on the market capitalization and TTM data as of 2026-06-09, Tesla trades at roughly 14x to 15x sales, more than 200x TTM free cash flow, about 90x TTM adjusted EBITDA, and more than 360x trailing earnings. On the same day, GM's P/E was about 30.6x and SPY was about 27.6x. Even if one acknowledges that Tesla is not GM, and that it deserves a significant valuation premium, this gap still shows that the core of market pricing has shifted from "selling cars" to "future AI operator."

The past year's stock behavior confirms this. Using approximate month-end prices, TSLA rose from $317.66 in June 2025 to $396.68 in June 2026, up about 25%. Over the same period, SPY rose from $612.65 to $737.05, up about 20%. But over a three-year period, TSLA rose from $261.77 in June 2023 to $396.68, up about 52%, while SPY rose from $428.15 to $737.05, up about 72%. This shows Tesla is a high-volatility stock that can suddenly rerate when the narrative strengthens and then swing again during realization, rather than a "stable compounder" that has consistently crushed the index over time. The current market environment itself also favors chasing AI narratives. Reuters reported repeatedly in late May and early June that the S&P 500 and Nasdaq had reached or approached record highs amid AI optimism, technology weights had a very large effect on the indices, risk appetite was not scarce, and the market was paying high prices for AI visions. Tesla can maintain a high valuation in this environment precisely because it is part of that narrative. It is not a stock that has been wrongly sold off.

The strongest version of the short thesis is actually more powerful than "cars are not selling": Tesla's automotive business has entered fuller competition, its European share was lost sharply in 2025, and the Chinese market requires refreshed models and financing programs to defend share. Meanwhile, the sky-high price the market is willing to pay rests on the premise that Robotaxi, FSD, and robots will contribute large-scale high-margin profit over the next decade. The problem is that the most important validation data is still not strong enough. Reuters reported on June 3 that Tesla's driverless Robotaxi had covered the entire Austin metropolitan area, but active vehicles numbered only about 50, while Waymo operated more than 250 vehicles locally. Reuters also reported in May that tests saw long waiting times and safety concerns. In Europe, the FSD path is still under approval. Reuters emphasized in April and May that EU approval had not yet landed, and that even if approved, the current system would still be a driver-assistance system that requires human supervision. The market has not ignored these issues. It has chosen to believe that time will solve them.

My disagreement with the market is over the discount rate and terminal value. The market is willing to view Tesla with a lower discount rate and a higher terminal profit margin, treating it as a composite of "hardware entry point plus software subscriptions plus robot network." I am willing to acknowledge that this path may work, but I am not willing to discount Robotaxi unit economics, regulatory scaling speed, and AI/robotics ROI that have not been validated at scale into today's price as if they were close to certain. For long-term value investing, this means a very plain thing: Tesla's real issue now is whether investors have prepaid for the most optimistic parts of the future. My answer is that they have paid too early and too much.

Intrinsic Value, Margin of Safety, and Final Investment Conclusion

First the valuation framework, then the conclusion. I split Tesla into three layers instead of treating it as a pure automaker or a mature AI platform: one layer is the existing automotive, energy-storage, and services cash flow; one layer is observable but still expanding software and Robotaxi pilot value; and the last layer is the optionality from long-dated robots and the larger Autonomous Network. To avoid circular reasoning, my terminal assumptions are clearly below the enthusiastic narrative. In the conservative and base cases, I do not treat Optimus's super success as the base case, and I do not make rapid nationwide Robotaxi scaling the default path.

In the Owner Earnings DCF, I start with conservative Owner Earnings of $5.5 billion. The conservative scenario assumes Owner Earnings grow at 8% annually for the next five years and 4% for the following five years, with an 11% discount rate and 2.5% terminal growth. The base scenario assumes 12% for the first five years and 8% for the following five years, with a 10% discount rate and 3% terminal growth. The optimistic scenario assumes energy, FSD, and Robotaxi make substantive contributions, with 18% for the first five years and 12% for the following five years, a 9% discount rate, and 3.5% terminal growth. The corresponding per-share values are roughly $190, $270, and $355. The most important thing here is what the range tells us, not any precise point estimate: even in the optimistic scenario, the current price of $396.68 is already near or above the upper limit the model can comfortably support.

Relative valuation sends a more direct signal. At the current price, Tesla's P/E, P/S, and P/FCF are all far above traditional automakers and also above broad-market indices. Its actual profitability in 2025 and Q1 2026 does not show high certainty commensurate with those multiples. If Tesla is treated as a "high-growth industrial AI platform," it does deserve a significant premium. But if that premium is written into the cash price paid today, the problem appears: you are effectively putting many good things that may happen over many future years into the purchase price all at once. Asset-based valuation gives almost no support to the current price. In Q1 2026, the company had $44.743 billion of cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments, while 2025 total debt was around $8.376 billion. Net cash is only about $10 per share. Add the $2.0 billion SpaceX-related equity investment, and it only makes "survival" more secure. It is far from enough to support a $1.4 trillion equity valuation.

Therefore, I ultimately use a convergence method of "lower bound of discounted results plus relative-valuation constraints plus a very weak asset safety cushion." My conservative/base/optimistic intrinsic values roughly correspond to $190 / $270 / $355 per share. Given Tesla's governance discount, uncertainty around AI capex, and the fact that the automotive moat is no longer as wide as it was three years ago, I require at least about a 30% margin of safety before I would put it into a long-term portfolio. As a result, the practical price band needs to be tightened somewhat below the theoretical value.

The core issue in the margin of safety is "the price is far too high"; the quality of the company itself is secondary. For Tesla, the most fragile assumption is only one thing: the valuation the market is willing to give it today must depend on Robotaxi and software/robotics profit beginning to take over materially within the next three to five years. If growth is close to zero over the next three years, or if automotive margins continue to hover at low levels while driverless operations remain limited trials, then even if the market does not value Tesla as an ordinary automaker, and merely compresses the multiple from today's extremely high level to a range that is still expensive, returns would be poor. More realistically, Tesla now looks like a "good company at a bad price." More precisely, it may be a great company, but today's purchase price has prepaid a great deal of that future greatness. For long-term owners, I would rather wait for it to earn the high valuation with larger-scale, self-proving data, or wait for the price to fall significantly to a level that leaves room for error. My conclusion is very clear: the current price lacks sufficient margin of safety.

Risks and opposing arguments require directly facing the issues most likely to cause permanent capital loss. First, automotive hardware profits could keep commoditizing. This is not a theoretical risk: deliveries already fell in 2025, European share nearly halved in 2025, and BYD is already far ahead in unit sales. Second, Robotaxi operations and regulatory approval could land more slowly than expected. The Austin expansion is real progress, but fleet size, waiting times, cross-city replication, accident costs, and insurance costs are not yet mature. Third, governance and dilution risk. From a checklist perspective, I would roughly count about 8 of 15 items as passed. Clear failures include: valuation below intrinsic value, sufficient current margin of safety, and a clear explanation of why the market is wrong. Clear "uncertain" items include: whether the moat can keep widening over the next decade, whether software and Robotaxi can provide stable free cash flow, and whether management capital allocation will remain centered on maximizing per-share value. What really matters is that the failed items are concentrated exactly where the buy decision is most critical, so the conclusion cannot be optimistic.

There are still several blind spots in the public information that need tracking. First, Robotaxi's daily miles per vehicle, accident rate, insurance loss rate, remote-intervention cost, and city replication efficiency have not been continuously audited publicly like a mature platform. Second, Optimus's unit economics and mass-production yield are still far from the financial statements. Third, the actual uses and return cadence of more than $25.0 billion of 2026 capex will only become clear over the next few quarters. Because these blind spots all sit in the "most expensive part of the valuation," I would rather be stricter on valuation.

The final investment conclusion can be written simply. Tesla remains a company worthy of respect. It has not only scaled electric vehicles, but also built a second growth curve in energy storage, and it retains upside optionality in autonomous driving, software, and robotics that only a very small number of companies have. The problem is that an excellent business does not mean the stock is worth buying at any price. From the perspective of a long-term business owner, buying Tesla today is more like acquiring, at a high price, a company whose automotive and energy-storage businesses are already formed, but whose AI operating endgame that truly supports the high valuation has not fully landed. For long-term investors with balanced risk preferences, I can understand its upside, but I cannot see a cheap enough entry point.

If over the next two or three quarters Robotaxi operating radius, paid orders, fleet size, regulatory progress, and FSD subscription penetration all move clearly faster than expected, I would be willing to raise the base value. If those data points do not appear, while AI capex keeps rising and equity incentives keep diluting shareholders, then even if Tesla remains a good company, I would keep it on the watchlist rather than chase the story at any price. The most important thing that would change my mind now is business self-validation, not macro sentiment.

All capital is reinvested into growth. 2026 capex guidance rose from more than $20 billion in the 2025 annual report to more than $25 billion in the Q1 10-Q, mainly for AI training infrastructure, data centers, and production-line expansion, while TTM free cash flow was only about $7 billion. Moving from 50 vehicles to a million-vehicle fleet is a leap of tens of thousands of times.

    Second, FSD/autonomous driving must receive regulatory approval in major markets. European FSD is still under review, and even if approved, the current system still requires human supervision (as cited by the report). The regulatory timetable is outside the company's control.

    Third, Optimus humanoid robots must move from demonstrations to scaled mass production and contribute profit. The report says directly that unit economics and mass-production yields remain far from the financial statements.

This Baillie Gifford question was originally designed for great growth stocks that are undervalued because the market does not understand them, dismisses them, or cannot look far enough. Tesla is in the opposite position. First, it is not ignored at all; it is one of the flagship names of the current AI narrative. The report notes that the S&P 500 and Nasdaq have reached repeated highs amid AI optimism, that the market is not short of risk appetite and is paying high prices for AI visions, and that Tesla can maintain a high valuation precisely because it is part of that narrative, not because it has been mistakenly sold off. Second, the bull case has become mainstream: J.P.
