Siemens Energy is a frontline global supplier of power equipment. The report's stance is "Hold": a good company, but the price already reflects the story.

What does it mainly do? It makes nearly all the large-scale equipment along the chain from generating electricity to delivering it to homes: gas turbines, grids, transformers, and wind turbines. It makes money in two layers: first by selling equipment systems and earning project revenue, then by earning from long-term maintenance after the equipment is installed. The second layer has thicker margins and steadier revenue, and it is the company's core strength.

The biggest highlight is a comeback from near death. A few years ago, the wind turbine business suffered a major quality incident. The company was once near the brink, the stock fell to 6.4 euros, and it had to seek a backstop from the German government. It then reversed course, returned to profit, had government guarantees released early, and the share price recovered to 158 euros, roughly a 24-fold increase.

So why does the report only say Hold and not recommend chasing? It worries about two things. First, the price has already largely included the good news. The easiest reversal money has already been made, and much of today's high profit is supported by industry strength, which may not last. Second, the wind turbine business still has not truly become profitable and remains the biggest hidden risk. So the report thinks it is not cheap now: existing holders can keep holding, new money does not need to chase, and waiting for the price to return below 120 euros would be more prudent.

New capital does not need to chase; wait for a pullback, valuation digestion through growth, or confirmation that Gamesa has turned positive. Ideal buy price ≤ €120 (about 23x forward, roughly 24% below the current price), leaving a cushion for cyclical tailwinds and Gamesa risk.

2.1 What It Actually Is: A Tier-One Supplier of the Global Power Backbone

From generating electricity to delivering it to end users, Siemens Energy makes almost every major piece of equipment across the chain. It inherited Siemens' century-long power-engineering base and became independent in 2020. About 17% of global power generation and transmission is based on its technology. It has roughly 103,000 employees and operates in more than 90 countries.

FY2025 still had a heavy -13.1% loss, Q2 FY2026 narrowed to -1.7%, and FY2026 guidance is only break-even. A "true turnaround" has not yet occurred. A substantial portion of current high growth, high margins, and high orders is driven by cyclical tailwinds rather than expansion of the moat itself. ① Gas-turbine prices have risen about 195% since 2019, lead times have stretched to 5 to 7 years, capacity utilization is about 90%, and about 60% of new orders are tied to data centers. This is a powerful cyclical tailwind driven by AI data centers. ② The transformer shortage is about 30%, lead times are about 128 weeks, and prices have risen +77% since 2019. Pricing power in grid equipment is also a cyclical tailwind. If data-center capex peaks or renewable-plus-storage costs fall further, the new-gas-turbine cycle will recede. The service aftermarket is more resilient.

5.3 Moat Weaknesses

Wind power Gamesa: no moat and a history of value destruction. Onshore wind turbines are exposed to commoditized price competition, and the 4.X/5.X platform quality disaster affected 15% to 30% of the operating fleet, led to nearly €2B in cumulative provisions, and produced a FY2023 operating loss of about €4.3B, once threatening the whole group.
