Envicool Deep-Dive Research

Quick ReadPlain-language overview · read this first

Envicool is a China-based full-chain liquid-cooling thermal management equipment provider. It supplies cooling solutions for data centers and energy storage, with deliverables spanning cold plates and connectors through room-level integrated systems. Liquid cooling means using liquid to directly cool high-power computing equipment, and it is replacing air cooling as the standard configuration for high-density AI cabinets. The report rates the stock as Watch: the liquid-cooling cycle is real, but current profit delivery and cash flow do not provide a margin of safety.

Revenue is coming through. In 2025, revenue was 6.068 billion yuan, up 32.23% year on year. Data-center thermal management product revenue was 3.448 billion yuan, accounting for 56.83% and growing 41.28% year on year, making it the main engine; overseas revenue grew 52.64% year on year. The problem is that profit and cash flow are not keeping pace: net profit attributable to the parent was 522 million yuan, with growth of only 15.30%; operating cash flow in 2025 was only 157 million yuan, far below net profit of 522 million yuan, with the ratio between the two at about 0.30. More strikingly, in Q1 2026, revenue grew 26.03% year on year, while net profit attributable to the parent fell 81.97% year on year. Management attributed this to foreign-exchange losses, higher interest expenses, slower payment collection caused by a slowdown in domestic IDC construction, and changes in revenue mix that lowered gross margin.

The competitive moat is real: cross-scenario engineering delivery capability, high-threshold customers such as ByteDance, Tencent, and Alibaba, with sales to the Top5 customers accounting for only 19.41%, and management DNA from Huawei Electric and Emerson systems. But the report cautions that liquid-cooling components are moving toward standardization, and a full-chain setup may not necessarily translate into thicker gross margins.

The real disagreement lies in valuation. The current price of 66.08 yuan corresponds to a static P/E ratio of about 161 times. The earnings yield calculated at the current price is about 0.62%, already below the China 10-year government bond yield of about 1.74%. The report lays out 3 scenarios: an ideal buying range of 24 to 30 yuan, an acceptable holding range of 31 to 45 yuan, and 64 to 72 yuan as clearly overvalued. The current price is explicitly classified as clearly overvalued, and the conclusion on margin of safety is that there is none. Risks are also concentrated: accounts receivable were 3.054 billion yuan, accounting for 39.42% of total assets, with pressure on collections and bad debts rising; the gross margin of cabinet thermal management has already fallen by 4.24 percentage points; valuations across the liquid-cooling sector are elevated, and once AI infrastructure investment growth normalizes, valuation compression may arrive before fundamentals weaken. The report's final stance is that the company's fundamentals are still strengthening and merit long-term tracking, but the stock has already run too far ahead, and at the current price it is not worth bearing the dual risk of high valuation and low margin of safety.

The above is a summary of the report's views and does not constitute investment advice. The stock market involves risk; invest with caution.

Research Summary

Envicool is not a company built purely around an "AI story." At its core, it is an equipment company that combines thermal control, thermal management, liquid-cooling components, room-level solutions, and delivery engineering into one commercial machine. In 2025, revenue was RMB 6.068 billion, up 32.23% year over year; net profit attributable to shareholders was RMB 522 million, up 15.30%. Revenue is still growing quickly, but profit growth has already fallen clearly behind. Breaking it down, the real upward driver in 2025 was energy-saving room thermal-control products, with revenue of RMB 3.448 billion, 56.83% of total revenue, and 41.28% year-over-year growth. Energy-saving cabinet thermal-control products generated RMB 1.977 billion, 32.59% of total revenue, up 15.30%. This means the market's most exciting "liquid cooling + AI" narrative has indeed begun to show up in the financial statements, while the income statement and cash-flow statement have not caught up with the stock-price imagination.

What the market is trading today has moved beyond the beginner question of whether Envicool is a liquid-cooling company. It now rests on three more expensive questions. First, as power density in AI training and inference clusters keeps rising, will liquid cooling shift from a premium option into a required infrastructure layer? Second, can a local full-chain liquid-cooling supplier like Envicool move from cold plates, connectors, Manifolds, and CDUs into higher-value complete machines and system solutions, capturing thicker margins? Third, can overseas AIDC project expansion push it another half-step from a Chinese liquid-cooling leader into the global compute-infrastructure supply chain? Research from CAICT and ODCC gives the narrative industry ammunition: China's liquid-cooled server market reached USD 2.37 billion in 2024, China's intelligent-computing-center liquid-cooling market was about RMB 18.4 billion in 2024, up 66.1% year over year, and is expected to approach RMB 130 billion by 2029. When NVIDIA opened the GB200 NVL72 design in 2024, it also treated liquid cooling as a foundational requirement for high-density AI cabinets and listed Envicool among its ecosystem partners.

The surge in Envicool's share price over the past year is not hard to explain. The market first believed in rising liquid-cooling penetration, then in a valuation premium for full-chain suppliers over point-component vendors, and finally bundled overseas project expansion with the NVIDIA ecosystem to give it near-RMB 100 billion market-cap imagination. In April 2026, the Q1 report pulled that narrative back to reality. Q1 revenue was RMB 1.175 billion, up 26.03% year over year, but net profit attributable to shareholders was only RMB 8.6576 million, down 81.97%; net operating cash flow was RMB -386 million. Management later explained that the main drags came from FX losses, higher financing costs, increased credit impairment, lower gross margin caused by revenue-mix changes, and plentiful orders whose shipment and revenue recognition did not move in sync. The market had been trading sustained high revenue growth. The Q1 report forced it to face the speed of profit realization and the quality of cash-flow conversion again.

The most important long-short disagreement now comes down to one sentence: is Envicool high-quality growth at a penetration-rate inflection point, or a textbook case of a real cycle, real company, and overly expensive price? Bulls have plenty of evidence. The industry is genuinely expanding, Envicool has real product depth, customers include ByteDance, Tencent, Alibaba, Chindata, GDS, DataPort, China Mobile, and China Telecom, Top 5 customer sales account for only 19.41%, so this is not a single-customer bet, overseas revenue grew 52.64% year over year in 2025, and management has clearly said electronic thermal-dissipation growth will accelerate in 2026. Bears have equally solid evidence. Operating cash flow was only RMB 157 million in 2025, far below RMB 522 million in net profit; accounts receivable were RMB 3.054 billion at the end of 2025, 39.42% of total assets; credit impairment losses were RMB 93.62 million and asset impairment losses were RMB 73.18 million in 2025; and Q1 2026 again showed revenue growth without profit growth. In other words, the market wants to buy the next 3 years of strong demand, while the current statements show collection, acceptance, finance costs, and bad-debt provisioning.

If I had to apply one label, I would place Envicool in valuation reset. Its fundamentals have not collapsed, and it is not running only on concepts. The real problem is that the share price and market cap have already pulled forward too much of the liquid-cooling penetration-rate inflection, while actual commercial returns remain in a phase where revenue is converting faster than profit, and profit faster than cash flow. The company is a well-positioned participant in a strong-demand track, but as of June 2026 the stock looks more like an asset that needs expectations to cool, cash flow to catch up with profit, and profit to catch up with the narrative.

Company Longitudinal Development History

Origins, Management DNA, and Listing Path

Envicool began with a typical Chinese precision environmental-control equipment entrepreneurship path, rather than an AI-infrastructure story from day one. The prospectus shows that its predecessor, Envicool Limited, was established in August 2005 with initial registered capital of only RMB 1 million, funded by Zhang Wei and Li Zhigui. After capital increases in 2008 and 2009, Qi Yong became a core investor and controlling figure. The equity structure later stabilized, and after 2011 the company introduced Envicool Investment, Shanghai Bingyuan, Beijing Binghong, and other institutions and shareholding platforms. The prospectus also shows that from establishment to the prospectus signing date, the company had not undergone any major asset restructuring.

What really shaped the company was management's background, rather than that initial RMB 1 million in capital. The 2025 annual report discloses that chairman and general manager Qi Yong previously worked at Huawei Electric and Emerson, while several core executives came from Liebert, Emerson, Midea, Huawei Electric, Foxconn, and other companies. This is a typical network-energy, precision-cooling, and industrial-equipment talent mix, not an internet-style founding team. It explains why Envicool later became good at selling high-reliability, long-validation-cycle, complex-application thermal-control solutions to major customers, instead of building a traffic gateway. Qi Yong serves as both chairman and general manager. The annual report says the company balances this through the board and independent-director system. That structure improves execution efficiency and also brings key-person risk.

Envicool listed on the SZSE SME Board on December 29, 2016, at an issue price of RMB 18 per share, issuing 20 million shares and raising net proceeds of about RMB 309 million. The IPO story told to the market was still traditional but solid: a precision thermal-control energy-saving equipment manufacturer replicating technology and customer capabilities across communications, data centers, bus air conditioning, and other scenarios. At the moment of listing, the market had not yet given it today's AI premium. Envicool then looked more like a manufacturing growth stock.

Development Stages and Key Milestones

Envicool's development can be divided into four clear stages.

The first stage, from 2005 to 2016, was product validation. The early customer list already revealed its commercial character. The prospectus listed customers and application scenarios including Huawei, ZTE, China Unicom, China Mobile, China Telecom, BYD, Yutong, King Long, and CATL. In other words, from the start it built products along outdoor cabinets, communications networks, data centers, and new-energy vehicles, all scenarios with rigid thermal-management requirements, rather than starting from a single track. Its edge at the time was a willingness to do hard engineering work and deliver high-reliability customer scenarios. It was not yet a full-chain liquid-cooling company.

The second stage, from 2017 to 2020, was category expansion. In 2018, Shanghai Cooltech became a wholly owned subsidiary, taking Envicool into rail-transit train air conditioning and adding metro train air-conditioning and overhaul-service businesses. This move resembled a common manufacturing-company boundary expansion: extending environmental-control technology from equipment rooms into rail transit, rather than chasing a new story. After 2018, the company did not narrow its business lines. It continued to run room thermal control, cabinet thermal control, energy-storage thermal management, vehicle air conditioning, and rail-transit air conditioning in parallel, gradually forming platform-style thermal-management capabilities. Shanghai Cooltech's addition still has aftereffects today. The rail-transit business gave Envicool more service and maintenance capability, but it is dragged by local fiscal conditions and metro investment cycles, adding a low-demand, low-elasticity piece to the profit structure.

The third stage, from 2020 to 2023, was a second acceleration. The company launched a private placement in 2020 and completed it in 2021, issuing 12.0797 million new shares at RMB 25.58 per share and raising net proceeds of about RMB 302 million for the South China headquarters base and R&D and manufacturing capacity. This node was important because it was typical growth-capacity financing, not distress financing. At the same time, in 2023 the company included cold-plate products in the Intel Eagle Stream server Design Guide. Quick-disconnect connectors, Manifolds, cold plates, liquid-cooling fluids, leak detection, and other products in the Coolinside full-chain liquid-cooling solution were recognized by mainstream compute-chip vendors and leading compute-equipment manufacturers and began scaled procurement. Liquid-cooling electronic thermal-dissipation chain products had already begun making a meaningful revenue contribution in 2023. By this point, Envicool finally began growing from a thermal-control equipment manufacturer into a capital-market identity as a compute liquid-cooling chain supplier.

The fourth stage, from 2024 to today, is the AI narrative uplift and reality recalibration. Revenue stepped up again in 2025, room thermal control grew 41.28% year over year, overseas revenue grew 52.64%, and management emphasized overseas business expansion, global supply-chain platform construction, and acceleration in electronic thermal dissipation during earnings communication. But the Q1 2026 report also laid out the other side: between order growth, project progress, and revenue recognition, an equipment company is still governed by acceptance, collection, exchange rates, and financing costs. Envicool has not lost its track position, but it has begun losing the market's illusion that high growth automatically equals high profit and high cash flow.

Longitudinal Financial Review

Financially, Envicool's past five years tell a complete story: revenue rose all the way, profit also rose but with a lag, and cash flow briefly improved in 2023 before working capital restrained it again in 2024-2025. From 2021 to 2025, revenue grew from RMB 2.228 billion to RMB 6.068 billion, and net profit attributable to shareholders grew from RMB 205 million to RMB 522 million. But net operating cash flow moved only from RMB 180 million to RMB 157 million, and the five-year cumulative operating cash flow to net profit attributable to shareholders ratio was about 0.66. Operating cash flow fell 55.89% year over year in 2024 and declined further to RMB 157 million in 2025.

Year Revenue Net profit attributable to shareholders Net operating cash flow Operating features
2021 RMB 2.228 billion RMB 205 million RMB 180 million Expansion phase for energy storage and thermal-control platform
2022 RMB 2.923 billion RMB 280 million RMB 192 million Revenue grew faster than profit
2023 RMB 3.529 billion RMB 344 million RMB 453 million Temporary improvement in cash collection
2024 RMB 4.589 billion RMB 453 million RMB 200 million AI narrative lifted, but cash flow weakened
2025 RMB 6.068 billion RMB 522 million RMB 157 million Revenue surged, profit and cash flow under pressure

Data source: company 2023, 2024, and 2025 annual-report summaries and full 2025 annual report.

The key signal in this table is how growth was generated, not whether the company grew. At the end of 2025, accounts receivable were RMB 3.054 billion, 39.42% of total assets; contract assets were RMB 229 million, up year over year; inventory was RMB 983 million; short-term borrowings increased to RMB 736 million, long-term borrowings were RMB 321 million, and non-current liabilities due within one year were RMB 247 million. Management itself explained in the annual report that the large gap between operating cash flow and net profit came from increases in operating receivables and inventory. Credit impairment losses of RMB 93.62 million and asset impairment losses of RMB 73.18 million were also mainly related to receivable bad debts, goodwill impairment, and inventory write-downs. For an equipment company with a strong project-based profile and long acceptance cycles, this is not abnormal, but it directly lowers the valuation ceiling investors can accept.

The gross-margin side is also sending mixed signals. In 2025, room thermal-control gross margin was 28.36%, up 1.39 percentage points from the prior year. Cabinet thermal-control gross margin was 27.24%, down 4.24 percentage points from the prior year. Based on 2025 main-business revenue and operating cost, overall gross margin was about 27.9%, slightly lower than about 28.7% in 2024. Selling, administrative, and R&D expenses were RMB 254 million, RMB 244 million, and RMB 446 million, respectively. R&D expenses rose 27.51% year over year, but finance expense shifted from RMB -0.8488 million in 2024 to RMB 16.1822 million, which the annual report explicitly attributed to lower FX gains and higher interest expense. In other words, Envicool is still investing, and it must invest. But the result of that investment has not yet appeared as a sustained lift in the margin center.

Share-Price and Valuation History

For a long time after listing, Envicool was only a niche equipment growth stock. The real valuation distortion happened from 2025 to the first half of 2026. Media reviews show that the share price rose from a stage low of RMB 21.51 on April 21, 2025, to an intraday high of RMB 121.74 on April 20, 2026, with market cap peaking at about RMB 118.3 billion. Immediately after the Q1 report, the market's concern over profit realization erupted and the share price quickly pulled back. Looking back today, the core driver of that rally was three layers of valuation expansion, rather than profit: the liquid-cooling penetration story, NVIDIA ecosystem mapping, and overseas AIDC imagination. The decline was triggered by one reverse realization: revenue growth does not automatically lead to profit and cash flow.

As of 2026-06-12, Envicool's share price was RMB 66.08 and total market cap was RMB 84.209 billion. Based on 2025 net profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 522 million, the static P/E was about 161x; based on 2025 revenue of RMB 6.068 billion, the P/S was about 13.9x. If 2025 operating cash flow of RMB 157 million is reduced by capex of RMB 303 million, free cash flow was negative. This valuation already requires sustained high-growth delivery and preferably quick cash-flow improvement. It is beyond the category of an ordinary manufacturing growth stock. The share price has not returned to the bubble peak, but valuation discipline is already tight.

Business Model and Industry Cycle

Revenue Structure, Cost Structure, and Operating Leverage

Envicool's revenue structure today looks dispersed, but the main line is clear: everything revolves around thermal control for high-heat-density equipment and scenarios. In 2025, energy-saving room thermal-control products generated RMB 3.448 billion, 56.83% of revenue; energy-saving cabinet thermal-control products generated RMB 1.977 billion, 32.59%; bus air conditioning plus rail-transit train air conditioning and services together accounted for only 2.23%; and "others" accounted for 8.35%. Externally, the company no longer emphasizes that it is only an equipment-room air-conditioning manufacturer. It includes data centers and intelligent-computing centers, compute equipment, electrochemical energy-storage systems, communications networks, power grids, electric-vehicle charging piles, industrial automation, and power conversion in its application scope. The benefit of this structure is that the cycle is not fully concentrated in one industry. The drawback is that profit quality can be dragged down by the most project-based, lowest-margin, slowest-acceptance segment among several business lines.

From a cost breakdown, Envicool remains a manufacturing business with heavy engineering delivery. In 2025 main-business cost, direct materials accounted for 80.48%, engineering installation fees 6.87%, after-sales service fees 3.17%, direct labor 3.83%, manufacturing overhead 3.85%, and freight 1.80%. This shows that although the company can talk about the liquid-cooling chain and system solutions, its commercial essence still cannot escape materials, manufacturing, installation, and service. Scale expansion will bring some operating leverage, especially as already reflected in higher-value room thermal-control products. But unlike pure software or pure chips, its margin uplift is naturally unlikely to be especially steep. When revenue falls, R&D, service networks, and project teams are also hard to compress quickly.

Cash generation has therefore become the most important layer to penetrate. In 2025, operating cash flow was only RMB 157 million, while cash paid to acquire fixed assets, intangible assets, and other long-term assets was RMB 303 million, implying apparent free cash flow of RMB -146 million. The annual report also discloses that the increase in construction in progress was mainly related to investment in the Central China headquarters base, while the increase in fixed assets related to equipment procurement and transfer of the South China headquarters base into fixed assets. This means a meaningful portion of 2025 capex was indeed expansionary and should not all be treated as maintenance capex. But even under a relatively lenient approach, treating only 40% as maintenance capex, 2025 owner earnings would be only about RMB 36 million, implying an owner-earnings yield of about 0.4% on the current market cap. The headline looks like a 160x P/E. Once translated into cash-flow terms, it becomes more expensive, not cheaper.

Moat and Governance

Envicool's real moat lies in three specific things, not in the three words "liquid cooling" by themselves.

First is cross-scenario engineering capability. The company sells quick-disconnect connectors, Manifolds, cold plates, liquid-cooling fluids, leak detection, CDUs, cabinets, room-level thermal control, and system integration as one connected offering, rather than only making a single cold-plate component. The 2024 annual report also discloses that as the first partner in Intel China's Data Center Liquid Cooling Innovation Acceleration Program, Envicool's BHS-AP platform cold plate, UQD04 quick connector, manifold, and rack-mounted liquid-cooling CDU passed Intel testing and validation, making it the first cold-plate liquid-cooling solution integrator for the Xeon 6 platform. This capability is built through system understanding, project experience, and supporting delivery, not by stacking one or two components.

Second is the customer entry threshold. The end users or project users named in the 2025 annual report include ByteDance, Tencent, Alibaba, Chindata, GDS, DataPort, China Mobile, and China Telecom. Top 5 customers accounted for 19.41% of sales, and Top 5 suppliers accounted for 15.18% of purchases. This shows that the company is neither overly dependent on a single customer nor controlled by a single supplier. More important, these customers generally have long validation cycles, strong reliability requirements, and heavy delivery-record requirements. A new entrant cannot replace an incumbent simply by being 5% cheaper.

Third is management's industry DNA. The founder and multiple executives have long backgrounds in Huawei Electric, Emerson, Liebert, Midea, and other environmental-control and network-energy systems. This makes the company naturally more like an equipment-engineering company in product roadmap, customer communication, and delivery system, with less concept-only volatility. The 2025 annual report shows the actual controller Qi Yong still serves as both chairman and general manager. The advantage is a short chain and fast execution; the problem is that governance depends heavily on a core individual. The 2025 annual report had no modified audit opinion, and the independent-director report did not disclose related-party transactions that should have been disclosed. That makes the governance baseline broadly reliable, but it does not mean there is a high governance premium. It looks more like a typical founder-controlled manufacturing listed company.

The moat praised by the market also requires two reminders. One is that liquid-cooling components themselves tend toward standardization, and cold plates, connectors, and distributors will keep attracting more suppliers. The other is that being full-chain does not automatically mean higher profit. Sometimes it simply means the company bears more system-integration and delivery responsibility. Envicool's advantages are real, but this is not a rent-collecting moat. It is more like a moat that requires continuous R&D, continuous project execution, and continuous delivery records to win the next order.

Industry Structure, Cyclicality, and Geopolitical Risk

The reason liquid cooling has suddenly become a capital-market hotspot in the past two years is the thermal design power of compute equipment. CAICT research shows that China's liquid-cooled server market reached USD 2.37 billion in 2024, with the vast majority using cold-plate liquid cooling. ODCC discloses that China's intelligent-computing-center liquid-cooling market was about RMB 18.4 billion in 2024, up 66.1% year over year, and is expected to reach about RMB 130 billion by 2029. The industry is still in its growth phase, not maturity. The profit pool is currently distributed mainly across three ends: upstream high-performance chips and core components, midstream servers and liquid-cooling system integration, and downstream cloud vendors, carriers, and large IDCs with hyperscale capex capacity. Envicool sits between components and system solutions. It can benefit from rising penetration, while also facing centralized procurement by large customers and capacity expansion by peers.

Its cyclical profile is an overlay of four cycles, not a single line. The first is the AI capex cycle, where the core variables are GPU installations, cabinet power density, and hyperscale campus construction. The second is the data-center construction and acceptance cycle, which directly affects revenue recognition and receivables collection. The third is the energy-storage and broader industrial thermal-control cycle, which determines cabinet thermal-control demand. The fourth is the technology iteration cycle, with cold plate, immersion, coolant routes, and liquid-cooling standards still evolving. Uptime Institute's view is important: AI is adopting direct liquid cooling faster, but enterprise IT deployment is slower because facility teams and IT teams must rebuild interfaces, failure modes are unfamiliar, and standardization still takes time. In other words, the penetration direction is sound, but the pace will not be a straight line.

Geopolitical and regulatory risks are not life-or-death for Envicool, but they will affect valuation. In the GB200 NVL72 design, NVIDIA raised rack-level liquid-cooling capacity to 120 kW and included more than 40 infrastructure partners, including Envicool, in its ecosystem. That gives Envicool strong market endorsement. On the other side, overseas AIDC business means longer delivery chains, more complex local certification, higher FX volatility, and more demanding financing management. The company also set up Thailand and Indonesia entities in 2025, showing overseas expansion is genuinely advancing. When Q1 profit dropped sharply, the first reason management named was FX losses and higher interest expense. That is enough to show that overseas expansion brings financial volatility into the statements, not just a valuation premium.

Horizontal Competitor Analysis

Competitive Landscape and Peer Profiles

Envicool faces a typical "different species on the same map" situation, rather than a lack of comparables. The most direct comparables must be divided into four categories. Vertiv is the global leader in data-center power and thermal management, with the strongest capabilities, a higher service mix, and a role as a collaborator in NVIDIA Blackwell reference architecture. Delta Electronics is a platform giant selling power, thermal management, UPS, and automation together, with liquid cooling only one high-growth branch on a huge business tree. Shenling Environmental is closer to a domestic special-purpose air-conditioning and environmental system-integration player, deeply focused on data-service industrial environments and industrial-process environments. Goaland is more component- and professional thermal-management-equipment oriented, with positions in power electronics and liquid-cooling links but still some distance from full-chain system delivery. Envicool's real niche is as a Chinese local, system-leaning middle-layer player that is closer to the compute liquid-cooling chain than traditional air-conditioning companies.

Vertiv has become a global infrastructure company. Its 2025 net sales were USD 10.230 billion, operating profit was USD 1.830 billion, ER&D spending was USD 442 million, and it had more than 5,000 global field service engineers. It sells packaged infrastructure across power, thermal management, controls, and services, not just cooling. For customers, Vertiv wins through service networks, global delivery, and system-level optimization. Its valuation is not low, but it also does not need imagination to support it like a pure theme stock. Compared with Vertiv, Envicool's engineering understanding is not much weaker in localized scenarios, but its global service capability, brand recognition, and cross-region delivery system still lag clearly.

Delta Electronics has become a platform. Its 2025 consolidated revenue was TWD 554.9 billion, after-tax net profit was TWD 60.1 billion, and ROE was 24.1%. By June 2026, the company had also launched prefabricated AI modular data-center solutions at COMPUTEX. This company does not need a single liquid-cooling story to prove itself because it has growth entries across power, thermal management, automation, buildings, and infrastructure. Customers often choose Delta because it can turn power and thermal management into an integrated platform, rather than for a single liquid-cooling component. For Envicool, Delta is not the most direct front-line price-war opponent, but it is the most important valuation-ceiling reference. If platform giants do not trade at extreme valuations, whether the market will keep giving a single-track company a higher premium is an open question.

Shenling Environmental is more like Envicool's domestic environmental-system neighbor. Its 2024 annual report positioned it as a professional special-purpose air-conditioning and integrated-solutions provider for data-service industrial environments, industrial-process R&D and production environments, professional special applications, and indoor public-building environments. Its 2025 net profit attributable to shareholders was about RMB 217 million, up 87.59% from the previous year, with total market cap about RMB 37.08 billion and a P/E close to 194x. Why would customers choose Shenling? Because it has deep experience in special-environment system integration and suits complex scenarios. Why might they also turn to Envicool? Because in the compute liquid-cooling chain, Envicool is more deeply coupled with servers and compute equipment, and the capital market is more willing to classify it as AI liquid cooling rather than special-purpose air conditioning.

Goaland has a different profile. The company is more focused on professional thermal-management equipment and liquid-cooling subsegments. Its 2025 net profit attributable to shareholders was about RMB 55.78 million, up 194.43% year over year. Its 2025 interim report disclosed that the company uses a direct-sales model of long-term technical cooperation plus brand demonstration, with customers mainly large state-owned enterprises in the power industry, listed companies, and leading internet companies. Goaland's strength is depth in professional links; its weakness is scale and platform capability. It represents the type of rival Envicool most needs to watch: not necessarily comprehensive, but able to use more aggressive pricing or speed to take orders in a specific liquid-cooling segment.

The most striking point in this table is who deserves to be more expensive and why, rather than who is more expensive. Vertiv is much larger than Envicool, deeper in globalization, and thicker in service network, yet its P/E is only about half Envicool's. Delta Electronics is a platform giant, with AI data centers only one part of the business, and it also has not received a much higher valuation than Envicool. Conversely, A-share comparables such as Shenling Environmental and Goaland are also in high-valuation territory, showing that the overall A-share liquid-cooling and environmental-control track carries a thematic premium. Peers being expensive does not make Envicool cheap. The more meaningful conclusion is that Envicool has a strong position in Chinese local full-chain liquid cooling, but when placed against global infrastructure and platform thermal-management players, its valuation is no longer conservative.

Current Fundamentals, Valuation, Risks, and Catalysts

What Is Happening Now

Looking only at the 2025 annual report, Envicool remains on an upward path. Revenue was RMB 6.068 billion in 2025, up 32.23% year over year; net profit attributable to shareholders was RMB 522 million, up 15.30%; non-recurring-adjusted net profit attributable to shareholders was about RMB 504 million, up 17.22%. Room thermal-control revenue was RMB 3.449 billion, 56.83% of total revenue, up 41.28%; cabinet thermal-control revenue was RMB 1.977 billion, 32.59% of total revenue, up 15.30%; overseas revenue was RMB 849 million, up 52.64%. In earnings communication, management explicitly attributed 2025 performance to promotion of full-chain compute liquid cooling, overseas business expansion, global supply-chain platform construction, organizational optimization, and technological innovation.

If we cut back to the 2025 interim report, the structure becomes clearer. In the first half of 2025, revenue was RMB 2.573 billion, up 50.25% year over year; net profit attributable to shareholders was RMB 216 million, up 17.54%; and net operating cash flow was RMB -234 million. Revenue broke out, profit rose with it, but cash flow had already sounded the first warning. By Q1 2026, revenue continued to rise 26.03% year over year to RMB 1.175 billion, but net profit attributable to shareholders fell to only RMB 8.6576 million, down 81.97%; adjusted net profit fell 87.10%; and net operating cash flow declined further to RMB -386 million.

Management's explanation for the Q1 profit decline was specific and typical of equipment-company bottlenecks. First, some overseas projects were settled in local currencies, so RMB appreciation caused FX losses, while expanded financing scale pushed up interest expense. Second, the pace of domestic IDC construction slowed, project implementation cycles lengthened, settlement and collection cycles became slower, and bad-debt provisions increased. Third, changes in the revenue mix caused gross margin to decline year over year. Fourth, orders were plentiful, but shipment and revenue recognition did not rise in sync. In other words, the real issue is that the chain converting demand into profit slowed at several links, rather than demand suddenly disappearing.

What the Market Is Trading and the Long-Short Split

The market's main narrative is still that high heat density in AI compute raises liquid-cooling penetration, and Envicool benefits from full-chain liquid cooling and overseas expansion. This narrative is not built on air. The company's cold plates, quick connectors, Manifolds, CDUs, and other liquid-cooling chain products have already been recognized by mainstream compute-chip vendors and leading equipment manufacturers. Intel testing validation and NVIDIA ecosystem coverage are also real. In H2 2025, management also clearly mentioned that overseas revenue in the room thermal-control business increased significantly, and that electronic thermal-dissipation growth was expected to accelerate in 2026.

Bulls truly believe three things. First, liquid-cooling penetration is far from over, and China's intelligent-computing-center liquid-cooling market in 2024 was only the starting point. Second, Envicool can keep climbing the value chain from room-level thermal control to rack-level and board-level liquid cooling. Third, overseas revenue growth of 52.64% shows it can benefit beyond the domestic market. Bears focus on three other things. First, revenue acceleration has not become profit acceleration: 2025 revenue grew 32.23%, while net profit grew only 15.30%. Second, cash flow is meaningfully weaker than profit: 2025 operating cash flow to net profit was only about 0.30. Third, receivables and impairments have begun telling investors that project-based conversion cannot be as smooth as an AI hardware theme. The core of the long-short disagreement is whether strong demand can become higher-quality profit and cash flow, not whether the demand is real.

Valuation Analysis

Start with cash-flow penetration. From 2021 to 2025, Envicool's cumulative net operating cash flow was about RMB 1.183 billion, cumulative net profit attributable to shareholders was about RMB 1.804 billion, and the five-year cumulative operating cash flow to net profit ratio was about 0.66. In the most recent two years, 2024 and 2025 were only 0.44 and 0.30. 2025 capex was RMB 303 million. Considering the headquarters-base construction, equipment deployment, and new fixed assets disclosed in the annual report, I judge that expansionary spending accounted for a high share of 2025 capex. But even if only 40% is treated as maintenance capex, 2025 owner earnings would be only around RMB 36 million, far below accounting profit of RMB 522 million. From this perspective, a headline P/E around 160x does not overstate valuation pressure. It understates the cash-conversion problem.

On relative valuation, Envicool currently sits in an awkward position: materially above the growth-discount speed of global leaders, while not more extreme than some A-share comparables' thematic premium. It is much more expensive than Vertiv and also more expensive than Delta Electronics. Compared with A-share peers such as Shenling Environmental and Goaland, it sits in the range of not the most expensive, but certainly not cheap. The problem is that high valuations among A-share peers may not be reliable in the first place. If the whole liquid-cooling and thermal-control track is near a historical high, investment discipline can no longer rely on peers also being expensive. It must return to absolute valuation.

The following table gives my three scenarios. They are price projections under the research framework, not investment advice. The valuation method mainly cross-checks 2027 earnings capacity and P/S, then applies a discount for cash-flow quality. I use a 2027 perspective instead of single-year 2026 profit because the company's near-term volatility is more affected by acceptance, delivery, FX, and expense disruptions. Using only 2026 profit would make the model too fragile.

Dimension Conservative Base Bull
Revenue / margin assumption 2027 revenue about RMB 8.4 billion, net margin about 8.7% 2027 revenue about RMB 9.6 billion, net margin about 9.2% 2027 revenue about RMB 10.9 billion, net margin about 9.8%
Cash-flow assumption Limited collection improvement, operating cash flow still below net profit Collection repairs, operating cash flow gradually approaches net profit Overseas projects and high-value liquid cooling scale up, with clear cash-flow recovery
Valuation multiple assumption 42-52x PE, implying about RMB 24-30/share 45-65x PE, implying about RMB 31-45/share 55-69x PE, implying about RMB 46-58/share
Key catalysts Receivables growth slows, Q2/Q3 gross margin stabilizes Overseas AIDC share rises, electronic thermal dissipation scales Liquid-cooling penetration exceeds expectations, overseas projects recognize revenue at scale
Key risks Collection delays, bad-debt provisioning continues rising Price competition pressures gross margin, FX volatility repeats Profit realization remains slow under high valuation, sector valuation center moves down
Implied return space Negative versus current price Still negative or close to flat versus current price If it only reaches optimistic intrinsic value, upside remains limited
Permanent capital-loss risk Trigger: IDC investment pace slows and receivables keep rising Trigger: gross-margin repair fails, overseas conversion is slow Trigger: strong demand persists but market valuation center declines

Data basis: 2025 annual report, Q1 2026 report, current market cap and share price, with share count estimated backward from current total market cap.

After reviewing the margin of safety, the conclusion is direct. The current price is a clear premium to the implied value in the conservative scenario, leaving zero margin of safety. If the weakest assumptions in the base scenario, improved receivable collection and no further rise in bad debts, are cut by 30%, base valuation quickly falls to the high RMB 20s to low RMB 30s. If profit is flat over the next three years, the earnings yield at the current price is only about 0.62%, clearly below the China 10-year government-bond yield of about 1.74% on 2026-06-12. This is a classic good company at a bad price. My margin-of-safety conclusion is: none.

Risks, Catalysts, and Tracking Metrics

I think there are only five risks that most deserve attention.

The first is collection and bad-debt risk, with medium probability and high impact. Accounts receivable were RMB 3.054 billion at the end of 2025, 39.42% of total assets. In Q1 2026, management also explicitly said the slower domestic IDC construction pace lengthened settlement and collection cycles. This is the first transmission chain pressuring both profit and cash flow. If accounts receivable and contract assets continue to underperform revenue growth for two consecutive quarters, bad-debt provisions may rise further, and the market may reprice the company from a growth stock into a project-based company with heavy working-capital occupation.

The second is gross-margin and product-mix risk, with medium probability and high impact. In 2025, room thermal-control gross margin rose, but cabinet thermal-control gross margin fell 4.24 percentage points. In Q1 2026, the company again cited revenue-mix changes as the reason for a year-over-year gross-margin decline. The liquid-cooling story is large, but actual profit depends on how much high-value chain product is in revenue. If competition in cabinet thermal control and energy-storage thermal management continues to intensify, Envicool will first look like revenue is still fine while margins begin falling.

The third is FX and financing-cost risk, with medium probability and medium-high impact. Finance expense turned from negative to positive in 2025, and in Q1 2026 management again listed FX losses and interest expense as the first reason for the profit decline. Overseas expansion can open valuation room, but it also brings RMB exchange rates, overseas settlement, and financing costs into the income statement. For a company with a very high current valuation, this type of seemingly financial noise can also trigger sharp share-price volatility.

The fourth is sector valuation-center decline risk, with medium-high probability and high impact. Envicool currently trades at about 161x static P/E, and peers Shenling and Goaland are also expensive. This means the market is applying a high-discounted-growth logic to the entire liquid-cooling track. Once AI infrastructure investment growth normalizes, or market style shifts from high-beta themes back to earnings realization, valuation compression may occur before fundamentals change. The share-price reaction after the April 2026 Q1 report already provided a sample.

The fifth is governance and execution-complexity risk, with low-to-medium probability and medium impact. The actual controller serves as both chairman and general manager. Capacity expansion, overseas expansion, new liquid-cooling businesses, and global supply-chain platform construction are all advancing at the same time, and organizational complexity is rising quickly. The company currently has no obvious governance red flags, no modified audit opinion, and no disclosed major related-party transaction issue. But for this type of founder-controlled manufacturing company, the biggest risk is loss of execution rhythm, rather than the wrong strategic direction. Orders, delivery, working-capital occupation, and expense growth can run together, squeezing profit in the middle.

At the tracking level, I suggest focusing only on the following hard indicators:

Indicator Normal range Warning threshold
Room thermal-control revenue growth Above company-wide revenue growth Below total revenue growth for 2 consecutive quarters
Operating cash flow / net profit attributable Above 0.8 is healthier Below 0.5 for 2 consecutive years
Accounts receivable / revenue Below 40% Above 45%
Credit impairment losses / revenue Below 1% Above 2%
Overall gross margin Stable or rising Declines for 2 consecutive quarters
Overseas revenue growth Above domestic growth Turns negative while finance expense also rises
Finance expense ratio 0%-1% Above 1.5%
New liquid-cooling chain product certification / customer expansion Continued additions No new validation progress for 2 consecutive quarters
Current TTM PE Worth discussing only below 80x Above 120x requires high restraint
China 10-year government-bond yield versus earnings yield Earnings yield should exceed the risk-free rate Earnings yield below government-bond yield

Data basis: 2025 annual report, Q1 2026 report, current share price and market cap, and government-bond yield.

Among these indicators, the three most important items are plain ones, not another large order: whether bad-debt provisions can stop rising, whether receivables can stop growing faster than revenue, and whether operating cash flow can truly return close to profit. Liquid-cooling penetration is the long-term view. Cash flow is reality. Stocks are ultimately priced by reality.

Cross-Sectional and Longitudinal Synthesis

Longitudinally, Envicool has proven a capability that is very Chinese-manufacturing in character and also valuable: it can turn complex environmental-control problems into deliverable products, then turn deliverable products into a cross-scenario platform. From communications cabinets, equipment-room air conditioning, and bus air conditioning to rail-transit air conditioning, energy-storage thermal control, and data-center liquid cooling, it has not always stood on the most glamorous track, but it has consistently stood within the broad trend of thermal management becoming more important. Its past success did not rely on financial leverage or pure luck. The core was management's industry experience in network energy and precision cooling, understanding of customer scenarios, and willingness to do the hard work of system integration and engineering implementation. Those success factors remain today and have become more important because of the high-heat-density trend in AI compute.

Horizontally, Envicool's most real advantage is its position in China's local liquid-cooling chain, not absolute scale or a global service network. It is deeper into the compute-equipment side than traditional special-purpose air-conditioning companies, more capable of system solutions than point-component companies, and more like a pure beneficiary than platform giants. It fills the niche of a local full-chain liquid-cooling system supplier. The problem lies exactly there. This niche is attractive enough to draw competition, and it is not a globally monopolistic niche, so valuation should not rise without limit. Over the past year, the market looked more like it was rewarding Envicool for choosing the right track, rather than for having already converted the track dividend steadily into cash returns.

My core judgment on the company can be compressed into one sentence: Envicool looks more like a company whose fundamentals are still strengthening, while the stock has already run too far ahead. The issue today is how many years of future growth the current price has already bought, not whether it has growth. The current valuation requires the company to complete four things over the next two to three years, and each has to be more than slightly better: liquid-cooling penetration must keep accelerating, overseas execution must avoid mistakes, margins must avoid compression from competition, and cash flow must repair quickly. If any one of these is realized more slowly, the share price will face a swing back in the valuation system itself, not a minor fluctuation.

The most important variable over the next 1 year is whether collection and acceptance rhythms can repair, especially domestic IDC project collection and overseas project settlement. The most important variable over the next 3 years is whether liquid-cooling chain products can move from validation obtained to a major revenue share. The most important variable over the next 5 years is whether Envicool can push itself from a Chinese thermal-control leader into an infrastructure supplier with genuine global service and system-delivery capability. The conditions that would make this company a better investment candidate are simple: lower price, better cash flow, and more stable margins. If gross margin steps down for two consecutive quarters, receivables continue to grow quickly, and overseas expansion does not convert into revenue and cash flow, the company needs to be reassessed.

Bull and Bear Cases

Bull case:

  • Room thermal-control revenue grew 41.28% year over year in 2025, showing that demand related to compute and data centers has entered the statements in concrete form.

  • The Coolinside full-chain liquid-cooling solution has been recognized by mainstream compute-chip vendors and leading equipment manufacturers, and Intel validation further raises the customer entry threshold.

  • Overseas revenue grew 52.64% year over year in 2025, so overseas expansion is no longer just a PPT story.

  • Top 5 customers accounted for only 19.41% of sales, indicating a diversified customer structure rather than a single large-customer bet.

  • The industry remains in a growth phase, and China's intelligent-computing-center liquid-cooling market is still expanding, so the track ceiling has not closed.

Bear case:

  • Revenue grew 32.23% in 2025, while net profit attributable to shareholders grew only 15.30%, so profit realization lagged revenue.

  • Operating cash flow was only RMB 157 million in 2025, far below RMB 522 million in net profit, indicating weak cash-flow quality.

  • Accounts receivable were RMB 3.054 billion at the end of 2025, 39.42% of total assets, so bad-debt and collection risks are rising.

  • Q1 2026 revenue grew 26.03% year over year, while net profit attributable to shareholders fell 81.97%, showing extremely fragile short-term earnings elasticity.

  • The current static P/E is about 161x, with an earnings yield below China's 10-year government-bond yield, leaving almost no margin of safety.

Pre-mortem

If this investment loses 50% three years from now, the most likely first script is that from H2 2026 to 2027, domestic IDC construction and acceptance continue to be slow, while overseas projects are signed in volume but revenue recognition and collection are both slower than expected. The company is forced to keep provisioning for bad debts, cabinet thermal-control price competition pressures gross margin, and net profit attributable to shareholders stays around RMB 600 million to RMB 700 million for a long period. The valuation the market is willing to give it contracts from above 100x today to around 45x, and the share price may return to the RMB 25-30 range. This script does not require demand to collapse. It only requires conversion to remain slow.

The second script is that after 2027, the liquid-cooling chain gradually moves toward more standardized component competition, with Vertiv, Delta Electronics, domestic system integrators, and specialized liquid-cooling vendors jointly squeezing the profit pool. Envicool's revenue still grows, but more of that growth comes from low-margin system delivery, gross margin falls to 24%-25%, and operating cash flow continues to lag net profit. By then, the market will reclassify it as a cyclical equipment stock in a strong-demand track rather than a high-quality growth stock. The valuation center may fall to 30-40x. Even if net profit is still growing, the share price could be cut in half.

Final Research Conclusion

Envicool is a well-positioned company. It stands at the point where data-center liquid-cooling penetration is rising, management has industry experience, the product chain has depth, the customer base has quality, and overseas expansion has begun to deliver substantive incremental growth. Within China's liquid-cooling value chain, the company does deserve to be viewed as one of the leaders. The problem is that the stock has moved too fast, not that the company is poor. The 2025 and Q1 2026 statements already make the facts clear enough: high revenue growth is real, slow profit realization is real, and weak cash flow is also real. The market previously preferred to look only at the first two realities. Now it has to include the third.

My conclusion therefore does not go to either extreme. This is neither a bad company to avoid immediately nor a good target that can be bought comfortably at this price. More precisely, it is a company worth long-term tracking and worth placing in the candidate pool during an industry upcycle, but it is not worth taking the dual risk of high valuation and low margin of safety at the current price in June 2026. My view would change under two conditions: either the price returns to a range that compensates sufficiently for cash-flow risk, or the company delivers several consecutive quarters of smoother collection, bad debts, gross margin, and overseas conversion, so that profit and cash flow genuinely catch up with the track narrative.

Research Uncertainties

  • The company does not separately disclose revenue, gross margin, and order metrics for electronic thermal dissipation / the liquid-cooling chain. I can only infer progress from room thermal control, management communication, and customer certification information, making it difficult to estimate value per GW precisely.

  • Overseas customers and specific project names are disclosed only in limited detail. The market often directly links the company with the NVIDIA ecosystem, but public materials more clearly prove ecosystem inclusion and technical interfaces, not that large-scale revenue has already been secured.

  • Share-count changes after the 2025 equity distribution mean current per-share valuation needs to be estimated backward from market cap, creating small calculation error.

  • The liquid-cooling industry is still evolving quickly. Competition among cold plate, immersion, and coolant routes will change profit-pool allocation among suppliers, and the long-term valuation center is not stable.

  • For some comparable companies, access to full original 2025 annual reports is not fully consistent, so a small amount of horizontal-comparison data relies on company investor pages or report summaries rather than full documents on the same basis.

  • How large is its market ceiling? Is it expanding an existing pie, or creating an entirely new market?6/10

The ceiling is real, but Envicool is taking share as it expands an existing pie, rather than creating a new market. Temperature control and thermal management have existed as businesses for decades. Envicool is upgrading data-center temperature control from mainly air cooling to liquid cooling for the era of high-power computing. In substance, this is a generational technology shift for the same demand, cooling equipment. It is an existing pie being enlarged by AI, not a new category created from nothing.

The evidence that the pie is expanding is quite solid. The report cites data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology showing that China's liquid-cooled server market had reached USD 2.37 billion in 2024. ODCC disclosed that China's intelligent-computing-center liquid cooling market was about RMB 18.4 billion in 2024, up 66.1% year on year, and is expected to approach RMB 130 billion by 2029. This means the track still has several-fold room over the next five years and remains in a growth phase rather than a mature phase. The driver is physical: NVIDIA raised rack-level liquid-cooling capability to 120 kW in the GB200 NVL72 design. When power consumption per rack reaches this level, liquid cooling moves from a premium option to a required piece of infrastructure, and penetration rising is the clear direction.

Still, it is important to distinguish between "a high ceiling" and "how much of that ceiling Envicool can monopolize." First, this is an existing market with plenty of competitors: globally there are platform giants such as Vertiv and Delta Electronics, while domestically Shenling Environmental and Goaland Energy Conservation compete on the same stage. No one is creating a monopolistic new market. Second, Envicool's niche is that of a China-local, system-side middle-layer player. It captures the beta from rising penetration, not the right to define industry standards. Being listed as an ecosystem partner by NVIDIA and Intel means it has been validated and admitted to the ecosystem, not that it has redefined how racks dissipate heat. Third, the move from air cooling to liquid cooling is a generational upgrade, but the customers and scenarios, including data centers, energy storage, and communications, overlap heavily. It looks more like a natural extension of existing capabilities.

Conclusion: the industry's ceiling, meaning liquid-cooling penetration, is high enough and real enough. That is the fundamental reason Envicool deserves long-term tracking. But it is a well-positioned participant in a hot track, taking a larger slice of an existing pie enlarged by AI, rather than opening a new world that belongs only to itself. From a Baillie Gifford lens, the ceiling dimension can score high, while the "creating an entirely new market" dimension does not hold.

  • Can its revenue at least double over the next five years? Will growth mainly be driven by volume, price, or new businesses?6/10

Yes. Revenue doubling within five years is highly likely, and it will mainly be driven by volume, with organic scale-up as the main engine. But profit doubling is far more questionable than revenue doubling. This is Envicool's strongest dimension.

Start with the realism of revenue doubling. From 2021 to 2025, the company's revenue rose from RMB 2.228 billion to RMB 6.068 billion, up 1.72x over four years, or about 28% annualized. Revenue in 2025 was RMB 6.068 billion, up 32.23% year on year. Even if growth falls year by year from a 30% center, the report's neutral scenario projects about RMB 9.6 billion of revenue in 2027. Relative to 2025, doubling within five years, to above roughly RMB 12 billion, almost does not require optimistic assumptions. The report's conservative scenario still gives about RMB 8.4 billion in 2027. So "whether revenue can double" is basically not the issue.

The source of growth is mainly volume. It is genuine organic scale-up, not price beta. There are three pieces of evidence. First, structurally, growth is driven by computer-room temperature control for data centers and intelligent computing centers. In 2025, computer-room temperature-control revenue was RMB 3.448 billion, accounting for 56.83%, up 41.28% year on year. This corresponds to real installed demand from rising AI-computing rack count and power density. It is volume, not price hikes. Second, overseas markets are an incremental engine. In 2025, overseas revenue was RMB 849 million, up 52.64% year on year. The company established new entities in Thailand and Indonesia, showing that globalization is genuinely progressing. Third, temperature-control and liquid-cooling equipment is delivered project by project, and pricing is actually under pressure. Rack temperature-control gross margin fell by 4.24 percentage points in 2025, and management explicitly said in 2026Q1 that "changes in revenue mix lowered gross margin." This shows growth does not rely on price increases, and may even involve giving up price to win volume.

But three discounts are necessary. First, the chain from revenue to profit is slowing: in 2025, revenue rose 32.23%, while net profit attributable to shareholders rose only 15.30%; in 2026Q1, revenue rose 26.03%, while net profit attributable to shareholders plunged 81.97%. Second, scale-up is accompanied by a sharp occupation of working capital. Accounts receivable at end-2025 were RMB 3.054 billion, accounting for 39.42% of total assets, and 2026Q1 net operating cash flow was RMB -386 million. The volume is real, but collection quality is questionable. Third, the slower pace of domestic IDC construction and long overseas acceptance cycles may cause revenue recognition to lag orders.

Conclusion: five-year revenue doubling is highly credible, and it is healthy organic volume growth. This dimension deserves a high score. But the thing doubling is revenue, not necessarily profit or cash flow. That is the crack in Envicool's growth story that most needs to be penetrated.

  • Five years from now, what will take over as the next growth engine? Does this "second curve" exist today?4/10

The second curve is the climb from room-level temperature control to rack-level and board-level liquid-cooling systems, plus overseas AIDC globalization. Both already exist and are generating revenue, but neither has become the main profit contributor. Strictly speaking, Envicool's current growth engine, computer-room temperature control, is itself a second curve grown out of its old core businesses, rack temperature control and communications/energy-storage temperature control. Its problem is not "no successor," but "the successor has not yet contributed major profit."

The first second curve is higher-value liquid-cooling chain products. Today's base is room-level computer-room temperature control, while the company is climbing along cold plates, quick-disconnect couplings, Manifold, and CDU toward rack-level and board-level liquid cooling. This line already exists and contributes revenue. The report says quick-disconnect couplings, Manifold, cold plates, liquid-cooling coolant, leak detection, and other parts of the Coolinside full-chain liquid-cooling solution "had already begun making a significant revenue contribution in 2023." Its cold plate products were included in the Intel Eagle Stream server Design Guide, and it became the first cold-plate liquid-cooling solution integrator for the Xeon 6 platform. The problem is that the company does not separately disclose revenue and gross-margin metrics for the "electronic thermal management/liquid-cooling chain" business. The report explicitly acknowledges this under "research uncertainties." The market can only infer from computer-room temperature-control revenue and customer certification information; it cannot prove that this has become the main profit contributor. Management guided that "electronic thermal management business growth will accelerate in 2026," but that remains future tense.

The second second curve is overseas globalization. In 2025, overseas revenue was RMB 849 million, up 52.64% year on year. The company established entities in Thailand and Indonesia and is undertaking overseas AIDC projects. This line also "already exists," but in 2026Q1 it directly dragged on profit. Management listed FX losses and interest expense as the first reason for the profit decline in the first quarter. That shows overseas expansion is a valuation narrative and also a current source of financial volatility. It is far from the stage of stable profit contribution.

Honest assessment: Envicool differs from mature cyclicals with "no second curve." Its next engines are clear and have landed, not just PowerPoint, which is a positive. But it falls short of the Baillie Gifford ideal, where "the second curve has already quietly taken shape today and can take over tomorrow." Both curves remain in an early stage of "validated, beginning to scale, but not yet converted into high-quality profit." This dimension can receive a slightly above-mid score: the direction is clear and early signs are visible, but the certainty and timing of succession still need to be proven by reports over the next few quarters.

  • What is its core competitive advantage? Will this moat widen or narrow over the next three to five years?5/10

The core advantage is a three-part package: cross-scenario system-engineering delivery capability, high-threshold major-customer record, and network-energy engineering DNA. But over the next three to five years, this moat is more likely to narrow than widen. This is the dimension that most requires a cool-headed assessment for Envicool. The advantages are real, but they are not the kind that let a company sit back and collect rent.

The moat has three specific sources, rather than the words "liquid cooling" themselves. First, cross-scenario engineering capability. The company links quick-disconnect couplings, Manifold, cold plates, liquid-cooling coolant, leak detection, CDUs, racks, room-level temperature control, and system integration into delivery, rather than only producing a single component. This capability is built through system understanding, project experience, and supporting delivery. The report discloses that Envicool is the first partner in Intel China's data-center liquid-cooling innovation acceleration program, and BHS-AP platform cold plates, UQD04 quick-disconnect couplings, and other products have passed Intel testing and validation. Second, customer entry barriers. Named customers in 2025 include ByteDance, Tencent, Alibaba, Chindata, GDS, Datang Telecom Technology's DataPort, China Mobile, and China Telecom. Top5 customers accounted for only 19.41% of sales, so the company is not betting on a single customer. At the same time, these customers have long validation cycles and place heavy weight on reliability, so new entrants cannot replace it just by being 5% cheaper. Third, management DNA. Founder Qi Yong and several executives came from Huawei Electric and Emerson, Liebert, Midea, and other environmental-control and network-energy systems, naturally giving the company an equipment-engineering playbook.

The evidence that the moat will narrow is equally hard. First, liquid-cooling components are moving toward standardization. The report explicitly warns that cold plates, couplings, and manifolds will keep attracting more suppliers, and standardization inevitably erodes single-point premiums. Second, "full chain" does not equal higher profit. Sometimes it only means taking on more system-integration and delivery responsibility. Rack temperature-control gross margin already fell by 4.24 percentage points in 2025, and overall gross margin edged down from about 28.7% to about 27.9%. The moat has not translated into a higher margin center. Third, competition is opening on all fronts. Above it are platform giants such as Vertiv, with more than 5000 field service engineers globally, and Delta Electronics, whose scale and service networks are overwhelming. Below it are A-share players such as Shenling Environmental and Goaland Energy Conservation. Envicool's system-side middle-layer niche is attractive enough that competition will only increase.

Conclusion: the moat exists but is relatively narrow. It is a moat that requires continuous R&D, continuous project execution, and continuous use of delivery records to win the next order. It is not a self-widening barrier based on brand or network effects. From a Baillie Gifford perspective, this dimension can only receive a mid-level score, and the trend is toward narrowing. Standardization and price competition are the most realistic erosive forces over the next three to five years.

  • If its core business is disrupted, does it have the DNA to reinvent itself? How does it handle mistakes and bad news?5/10

It has some DNA for reinvention, and its attitude toward bad news is reasonably candid, but this is more the gradual adaptability of an engineering company than disruptive second-startup DNA. The evidence for this dimension is limited, so it can only receive a mid-level score.

The historical evidence for self-reinvention is real. Envicool's 20-year development history is itself a series of moves to migrate environmental-control capability into the next high-heat-density scenario: from outdoor cabinets and communications networks, to data centers and new-energy vehicles, then entering rail-transit train air conditioning through the acquisition of Shanghai KTK in 2018, then energy-storage temperature control, and finally data-center liquid cooling. It did not remain trapped in a single business. It has kept reusing the underlying capability of thermal management in new scenarios. The report's "vertical history" clearly states that in 2023 it grew from a "temperature-control equipment manufacturer" into the capital-market identity of a "computing-power liquid-cooling chain supplier," relying precisely on proactive positioning such as getting cold plates included in Intel's Design Guide and building the Coolinside full-chain solution. This continuous extension of "platform-style thermal-management capability" is a real and verifiable adaptability.

Its treatment of mistakes and bad news had a positive sample in the 2026 first-quarter report. When net profit attributable to shareholders plunged 81.97% in the first quarter, management did not avoid the issue. It specifically broke the causes into four items: FX losses from overseas projects plus rising interest, slower domestic IDC construction delaying collections and increasing bad-debt provisions, changes in revenue mix lowering gross margin, and abundant orders but shipment and revenue recognition not moving in sync. The report describes this as "very much like the typical bottlenecks an equipment company encounters." The attribution was specific, did not shift blame, and did not rely on empty claims about industry prosperity. That candor is a positive signal on management quality. Similarly, the annual report proactively disclosed unfavorable data such as accounts receivable at 39.42% of total assets, credit impairment of RMB 93.62 million, and asset impairment of RMB 73.18 million, with no modified audit opinion.

But it is important to distinguish between "adaptability" and "DNA for reinvention." Baillie Gifford is asking whether the company can rebuild itself if the core business is disrupted. Envicool has demonstrated horizontal migration along the same technical axis, all around temperature control and thermal management. It has not proven the ability to start over after an existing business is completely disrupted. Its migration looks more like normal boundary expansion by a manufacturing company, without a life-or-death transformation test. In addition, the company is highly dependent on founder Qi Yong, who serves as both chairman and general manager. Key-person risk may actually constrain flexibility in extreme situations.

Conclusion: it has a real record of gradual self-renewal, and its handling of bad news is fairly mature, so a mid-level score is reasonable. But the hard DNA for post-disruption reinvention has not been proven and should not be overstated.

  • Does management, especially the founder, have a long-term view, and are its interests deeply aligned with the company? Is it willing to sacrifice current profit for the next five to ten years?6/10

The founder is still at the helm, and the long-term view plus engineering discipline are credible. But "deep interest alignment" is only moderate: the actual controller's direct shareholding is low, and control is anchored through a holding platform and concert parties. This dimension can receive a slightly above-mid score.

The founder's continued leadership and anchored control are certain. The report clearly states that actual controller Qi Yong still serves as chairman and general manager, making him the true decision-maker for the company's direction. In the shareholding structure, public shareholder data show Qi Yong directly holds about 5.64% personally, or 55.1209 million shares. But he is the actual controller of the holding platform Shenzhen Envicool Investment Co., Ltd., which holds about 25.08%, or 245.0195 million shares. Qi Yong and his concert parties together control about 30.72%. In other words, control is solid, with the combined stake above 30%, but the direct link between the founder's "personal wallet" and the share price, at 5.64%, is not heavy. This must be honestly laid out when assessing whether he is willing to sacrifice current profit for the next five to ten years: his control over the company is strong, while his personal net-worth exposure to the near-term share price is relatively limited. It should also be added that in December 2025, the company's actual controller pledged 1.69 million shares to supplement working capital at an affiliated enterprise. This is ordinary, but still a signal to watch.

The long-term view and engineering discipline are real positives. First, management DNA: Qi Yong and several executives have long backgrounds in Huawei Electric, Emerson, Liebert, Midea, and other network-energy and precision-cooling systems. This determines that Envicool is good at selling high-reliability, long-validation-cycle temperature-control solutions to major customers. It is an equipment-engineering team rather than a concept-driven team, with less story-driven volatility. Second, it continues investing for the future rather than polishing current-period numbers. In 2025, R&D expenses were RMB 446 million, up 27.51% year on year, and the company still increased R&D even as profit growth lagged revenue. The 2020-2021 private placement proceeds were invested in the South China headquarters, R&D, and manufacturing, which was growth capacity expansion rather than distress financing. In 2025 it also invested in building the Central Plains headquarters base, with expansionary spending accounting for a high share of capex. These are behavioral features of "betting on the next five to ten years."

But the governance structure has real shortcomings. One person serves as both chairman and general manager. The chain is short and execution is fast, but the price is that corporate governance depends heavily on a core individual, making key-person risk prominent. The report notes that the company uses the board and independent-director system for checks and balances, but this looks more like a typical founder-controlled manufacturing listed company. The governance premium is not high. As capacity expansion, overseas expansion, and the new liquid-cooling business advance at the same time, and organizational complexity rises rapidly, this structure is most vulnerable to losing rhythm.

Conclusion: the founder's long-term view and industrial discipline are credible, and control is firmly anchored, so a slightly above-mid score is justified. But low personal shareholding and a one-man-dominant governance structure mean neither "deep interest alignment" nor "governance quality" is top-tier.

  • If it disappeared tomorrow, how much would customers miss it? Is its growth model sustainable and not dependent on harming society or regulatory arbitrage?5/10

Customers would miss it to a meaningful degree, but it is not indispensable. It is one of the high-quality qualified suppliers: replaceable, but not with low switching cost. Its growth model is sustainable and does not harm society or regulation. This dimension can receive a slightly above-mid score.

Indispensability: moderate. On the positive side, Envicool has crossed a real threshold. Its customer base includes ByteDance, Tencent, Alibaba, Chindata, GDS, DataPort, China Mobile, and China Telecom. These major customers have long validation cycles, heavy reliability requirements, and strong emphasis on delivery record. Switching suppliers is not as simple as replacing one with another that is 5% cheaper. If liquid cooling leaks or thermal management fails, the loss is a high-value computing-power cluster. Reliability bonding creates some stickiness. Envicool's full-chain system delivery capability, from cold plates to room-level integration, also raises the difficulty of being replaced by a single-component supplier. But the counterpoint is equally clear: the company's Top5 customers accounted for only 19.41% of sales, which in reverse shows that it is not exclusive at any major customer. These cloud vendors generally use multiple sources, and competitors such as Vertiv, Delta Electronics, Shenling, and Goaland are in the same track. The report also warns that liquid-cooling components are moving toward standardization. So if it "disappeared tomorrow," customers would face validation costs and short-term pain in switching sources, but they would not "find no replacement." It is more like a high-quality supplier whose absence would be troublesome but fillable, rather than a lifeline whose absence stops operations.

Growth sustainability and society/regulatory review: clean, which is a positive. First, the demand base is a real physical need. Rising AI-computing power density turns liquid cooling from optional to mandatory. This is rigid demand driven by a technology trend, not subsidy arbitrage or regulatory arbitrage. Second, the business itself has positive externalities. Liquid cooling is a key method for saving energy and reducing consumption in data centers. Uptime Institute notes that AI is embracing direct liquid cooling faster, and the direction aligns with policy goals for greener computing power and lower PUE. It is a direction regulators welcome, not a regulatory risk. Third, both the customer structure and supplier structure are dispersed, with Top5 suppliers accounting for 15.18% of procurement. The company is not fattening growth by locking in a single customer or squeezing upstream. Fourth, the report found no controversy involving consumer harm, regulatory avoidance, or data/privacy issues. It sells industrial thermal-management equipment, and the business model is clean.

The only point to flag is geopolitical and compliance friction: overseas AIDC business means longer delivery chains, more complex local certifications, and higher FX volatility. This affects valuation and financial volatility, but it does not constitute a negative of "harming society."

Conclusion: indispensability is moderate, because it is replaceable but switching costs are not low. The growth model is sustainable and regulator-friendly. Overall, slightly above mid-level.

  • What are the unit economics of this business, including gross margin and incremental returns? Do they improve or deteriorate as scale grows? Where does the money it earns go?4/10

Unit economics are moderate and under pressure: gross margin around 28% is not thick, marginal economics may not improve as scale grows, and the most fatal issue is that the "accounting profit" it earns has barely turned into cash. This is Envicool's hard-weakness dimension and should receive a moderately low score.

Gross-margin level and trend: moderate but mixed downward. In 2025, overall gross margin was about 27.9% based on main-business revenue and cost, slightly down from about 28.7% in 2024. Structurally, the picture is split: computer-room temperature-control gross margin was 28.36%, up 1.39 percentage points year on year, showing improvement in higher-value segments; but rack temperature-control gross margin was 27.24%, down 4.24 percentage points year on year, reflecting competitive price pressure. For a heavy-delivery manufacturer where direct materials account for 80.48% of main-business cost and engineering installation fees account for 6.87%, a gross margin of about 28% is a normal range for an equipment company. It is not high-margin like software or chips, and the operating leverage from scale expansion is naturally not steep.

Incremental returns and scale effects: uncertain and leaning negative. Baillie Gifford asks whether unit economics improve or worsen as scale grows. Envicool's current signals point more toward "worse or flat": in 2025, revenue rose 32.23%, while net profit attributable to shareholders rose only 15.30%; in 2026Q1, revenue rose 26.03%, while net profit attributable to shareholders plunged 81.97%. Incremental revenue did not bring amplified incremental profit. Instead, FX, interest, bad debt, and structural gross-margin decline consumed it. R&D expenses were RMB 446 million, up 27.51% year on year, and continued investment is still required. Finance costs moved from RMB -848,800 in 2024 to RMB 16.1822 million in 2025. In other words, scale went up, but the margin center did not rise in sync.

Where the money goes + cash quality: the most glaring weakness. In 2025, net operating cash flow was only RMB 157 million, far below RMB 522 million of net profit attributable to shareholders. The ratio was about 0.30. Cumulative operating cash flow/net profit from 2021 to 2025 was about 0.66, and the 2024 and 2025 ratios were only 0.44 and 0.30, deteriorating year by year. Where did the money go? A large amount was trapped in working capital: accounts receivable at end-2025 were RMB 3.054 billion, accounting for 39.42% of total assets; inventory was RMB 983 million; contract assets were RMB 229 million. On the capex side, cash paid for asset purchases and construction in 2025 was RMB 303 million for the Central Plains headquarters, South China headquarters, and equipment, producing apparent free cash flow of about RMB -146 million. The report's look-through estimate says that even if only 40% of capex is treated as maintenance, 2025 "owner earnings" were only about RMB 36 million, implying an owner-earnings yield of about 0.4% on the current market capitalization.

Conclusion: gross margin is not thick, scale effects have not materialized, incremental returns are being eroded by expenses and impairments, and the more fatal issue is that profit has barely converted into cash. On unit economics, Envicool is clearly weak, warranting a moderately low score.

  • What conditions must all hold for it to rise 5x over ten years? Are those conditions realistic? What expectations are embedded in today's share price?3/10

For the stock to rise 5x over ten years, four things must all hold. Each one alone is not absurd, but having all of them hold while valuation does not contract is demanding from a starting point of 161x PE. The current share price embeds a perfect-score expectation of "high prosperity being delivered without any mistake." This dimension, valuation attractiveness, is clearly low.

The chain of conditions required for a 5x return over ten years: first, liquid-cooling penetration must continue growing rapidly, and the path from about RMB 18.4 billion in China's intelligent-computing-center liquid cooling market in 2024 to about RMB 130 billion in 2029 must not be interrupted. Second, Envicool must successfully climb from "room-level temperature control" to the higher-value "rack-level/board-level liquid-cooling" chain, and its share must not be diluted by standardization-driven competition. Third, overseas AIDC execution must not go wrong, turning 52.64% overseas growth into stable revenue and cash flow. Fourth, and hardest, margins must not be compressed by competition, and operating cash flow must genuinely catch up with profit. In the report's neutral scenario, 2027 revenue is about RMB 9.6 billion and net margin is about 9.2%. Even then, "implied return potential relative to the current price is still negative or close to flat." To get 5x, profit must grow several-fold over ten years and the market must be willing to maintain a high multiple. That requires all four conditions to hit, with none falling behind.

Expectations embedded in the current share price: extremely high. At a current price of RMB 66.08 and total market capitalization of about RMB 84.2 billion, using 2025 net profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 522 million, the static PE is about 161x and the price-to-sales ratio is about 13.9x. At the current price, the earnings yield is only about 0.62%, already below the China 10-year government bond yield of about 1.74% on 2026-06-12. Measured against the risk-free rate, the current price already has a negative margin of safety. It is even more expensive on cash flow: the report estimates the "owner-earnings yield" at only about 0.4%. In other words, the market has already prepaid many future years of high growth. The share price embeds a perfect script in which high prosperity is delivered flawlessly for many consecutive years.

Honest assessment of whether these conditions are realistic: each item is possible, but "all occurring simultaneously while the high valuation center does not fall" is a low-probability combination. The report's cross-sectional comparison is sobering: Vertiv is larger, more globalized, and has a deeper service network, yet its PE is only about half of Envicool's, at about 76x; platform giant Delta Electronics has a PE of about 96x. "Envicool should not be judged cheap just because peers such as Shenling (about 194x) and Goaland are generally expensive." In the report's three scenarios, even the optimistic scenario, with 2027 net margin of 9.8%, still has "limited" intrinsic-value upside, while the conservative scenario corresponds to about RMB 24-30, negative relative to the current price.

Conclusion: the conditions needed for a 5x return over ten years are clear but demanding. More importantly, the starting valuation has already consumed a large amount of expectation, leaving zero margin of safety. This is the dimension that most deserves a deduction in Envicool's scorecard.

  • Why has the market not realized all this yet? Is it because investors do not understand it, look down on it, or cannot look far enough? What will become the "narrative inflection point"?3/10

The market does not "fail to understand" it, nor does it "fail to look far enough." Quite the opposite: the market has looked too far and priced the ten-year narrative in advance. What has not been fully priced is the unglamorous issue of cash-flow realization quality. So this is not a stock that "the market has not yet recognized and has wrongly undervalued"; it is a stock that "the market has recognized too much and overpaid for." This dimension reverses the usual direction of Baillie Gifford's question.

Start by clarifying what the market understood. Over the past year, Envicool's share price rose from a low of RMB 21.51 in April 2025 to an intraday high of RMB 121.74 in April 2026, with peak market value of about RMB 118.3 billion. This was driven by three layers of valuation expansion: the liquid-cooling penetration story, the NVIDIA ecosystem mapping, and the overseas AIDC narrative. The market did not merely understand these three points; it looked far and priced them fully. A 161x PE shows that neither "looked down on" nor "could not look far enough" applies here. What the market systematically underappreciated was instead the three plain short-side realities: in 2025, revenue rose 32.23% while net profit attributable to shareholders rose only 15.30%; operating cash flow was RMB 157 million, with the ratio to net profit only about 0.30; accounts receivable were RMB 3.054 billion, accounting for 39.42% of total assets. In other words, the market previously wanted to look at "high revenue growth" and "the right track," but not at "slow profit realization and poor cash-flow realization."

The narrative inflection point has already arrived once and will recur. The 2026 first-quarter report was the first inflection point: net profit attributable to shareholders plunged 81.97% and operating cash flow was RMB -386 million, forcing the fantasy that "revenue growth automatically equals profit and cash flow" back to reality. The share price then quickly pulled back. This proves that what prices it is not the distant vision alone, but reality. Where will future "narrative inflection points" appear? Downward inflection points will be continued collections lagging revenue, continued bad-debt provisions, gross margin stepping down for consecutive periods, or the industry valuation center falling as AI infrastructure investment growth normalizes. The report notes that "valuation correction may precede fundamentals." A true upward inflection point would be the company making operating cash flow genuinely catch up with profit for several consecutive quarters, receivables growth falling below revenue growth, and gross margin stabilizing. Only then will the market shift from "rewarding being on the right track" to "rewarding turning track dividends into cash returns."

The honest conclusion: applying Baillie Gifford's framework of "why has the market not realized this yet" to Envicool gives the opposite answer. The market has not underestimated its growth; it has overestimated its current ability to convert growth into cash. It is not "a cheap quality stock that investors do not understand." It is "a good company at an expensive price, with investors looking too far." A real margin of safety will appear only after expectations cool and cash flow catches up with profit. This dimension points not to a buying opportunity, but to patiently waiting for a better price after the downward narrative inflection is realized.
