FII is the world's largest assembler of Nvidia AI servers. This report's stance is “Watch”: the business and earnings are both solid, but the current price is already on the expensive side, so it is better to keep watching and not rush to buy.

What does it mainly do? It assembles the most expensive type of AI servers for cloud computing companies, delivers them as fully built racks, and has a market share of about 45% to 48%, ranking first globally. But at its core, it is an outsourcing manufacturer, earning assembly and processing fees. The profit in chips is captured by Nvidia: when Nvidia sells 100 yuan of product, it can keep about 75 yuan, while FII keeps only about 7 yuan from every 100 yuan of sales, and the amount that ultimately reaches its own pocket is even thinner. In other words, even if the scale becomes very large, the money is hard-earned.

Are the results good? They are genuinely accelerating. Revenue rose about 48% this year, profit rose about 52%, and profit in the first quarter of this year doubled. Orders are booked through 2027, which is the report's basis for being positive on it.

The problem is price. At the current price of 78.55 yuan, based on its current profit, buying the entire company would take 44 years to earn back the cost. That is far more expensive than its Taiwan peers, most of which trade around 20 years, and it is also the most expensive level since its listing. The report also worries that parent company Hon Hai is doing the same outsourcing business itself, creating competition between the left and right hands; institutional money has withdrawn heavily over the past year, while retail investors have taken over at high levels.

So the conclusion is: a strong track and strong earnings, but a thin business and expensive valuation. The report believes this is not a good entry point now. Only when the share price falls back to around 60 yuan, and the cheaper price does not conceal new traps, would there be a margin of safety to discuss.

Foxconn Industrial Internet (FII, SSE 601138) is the world's largest assembler of Nvidia AI server racks and the largest "pick-and-shovel contract manufacturer" by scale in the AI compute capex wave. The one-sentence call: earnings are genuinely accelerating, but this is fundamentally a low-margin contract manufacturing business; AI is already fully priced in, with governance and cycle risks layered on top. Rating: Watch.

What it does: FII is the A-share subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision (Taiwan 2317.TW), with three main businesses: 1. cloud computing (AI servers/data center equipment, including Nvidia GB200/GB300 NVL72 rack-scale liquid-cooled system integration); 2. communications and mobile network equipment (switches/optical modules/network equipment); 3. industrial internet (tiny contribution). Why the rating is "Watch" rather than "Buy": unlike many recent names where fundamentals have faded, FII's fundamentals are truly accelerating. That must be made clear first. But three structural issues limit the appeal of the valuation:

  • Earnings are accelerating in delivery, which is the bull case foundation: Q1 2026 revenue was ¥251.078 billion (+56.52%), and net profit attributable to shareholders was ¥10.595 billion (+102.55%), with quarterly net profit exceeding ¥10 billion for three consecutive quarters; AI GPU rack shipments rose +3.8x year on year, and ASIC servers +3.2x (FII Q1 2026 report). North American cloud vendor 2026 capex has been revised up to >US$800 billion, about +67% year on year, and order visibility extends into 2027 (CLS).   • But it is fundamentally low-margin contract manufacturing with weak pricing power: FY2025 consolidated gross margin was only 6.94%, with net margin of 3.91%. The bulk of profit is captured upstream: Nvidia's gross margin is about 75%, while FII earns processing and integration fees. The long-running criticism that it "uses the name of technology while doing the work of contract manufacturing" remains relevant (Tencent News). However large AI server scale becomes, this is still a "high-volume, low-margin" model.

Our view: FII is the No. 1 rack-level assembly leader in the AI compute capex wave, with real earnings acceleration, so this is not an "Avoid." But it is a low-margin contract manufacturer with weak pricing power; its static valuation is at a historical high and materially above peers, with customer/GPU generation concentration, AI capex cycle topping risk, and governance flaws inside the Hon Hai system. That is far from a "Buy" at the current price. Great track, strong earnings, thin business, expensive valuation: the risk-reward is asymmetric. The margin of safety requires either a valuation pullback toward the contract manufacturing center of gravity, or further earnings delivery to digest the valuation, around the ¥60 area.
